Vehicle Detail

1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, was the first year of the 2nd generation. Only 3196 were built just 1,339 with automatic transmissions. Engine, Pontiac 400 C.I.D. (the only engine available in the Trans Am in 1970) built to Ram Air lll specs. W/ Ram Air lV cam, engine is also balanced. The builder estimated it at 400 H.P. Not a numbers matching vehicle Transmission, Turbohydramatic 400, 3 speed w/ shift kit, recently all new seals, as well as new pump and torque converter. Posi-trac rearend 3.55:1 gears I have owned this vehicle for 20 years, I assure you there is NO RUST anywhere in this car. It never leaves the garage if it's raining and in 20 years it has never touched snow. It runs and drives great. The attached pictures represent the car very well but this is not a show car, it is a very nice weekend driver. Please keep in mind this car is 46 years old but only has 59,000 original miles. It has never been an issue for me but the Park-Neutral safety switch does not work, meaning the car will start in gear. Who parks without putting the car in park? The paint is very good but not perfect. Interior is the deluxe and is all but perfect, all gauges work, even the new tach. and the quartz clock keep perfect time. The B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires have approx. 60% tread remaining, mounted on the proper Rally ll wheels w/ the P.M.D. caps. The door hinges were rebuilt so the doors close very well. There is no spare tire or jack nor does the emergency brake work. The exhaust has been replaced back to stock, so it sounds like it should. If you have questions please contact me and I will respond, I want you to know exactly what you are bidding on. On Jul-06-16 at 20:03:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received a few questions so I will try to answer them here. The engine is a 400 C.I.D. it was built and balanced approx. 16,000 mile ago, and the transmission is a TH400. The engine and transmission are out of a 74 Pontiac. Equipped with an Edelbrock Performer intake and Edelbrock 750 CFM carb. The differential is an 8.5" or 8.6" 10 bolt rated for up to 1000 hp according to chevydiy. The paint is not original, the vehicle was repainted with PPG two-stage paint and a new stripe set purchased from YearOne. The underside of the hood does need to be painted. The color of the car is Frost White rather than the original Polar White.
