The Chevrolet Corvair is a compact automobile manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet for model years 1960–1969 over two generations. As the only American-designed, mass produced passenger car to feature a rear mounted air-cooled engine, the Corvair range included a two-door coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon body styles, as well as passenger van, commercial van, and pickup truck variants. The Corvair competed with imported cars such as the original Volkswagen Beetle, as well as the Falcon, Plymouth, Studebaker Lark and the Rambler American. In Spring of 1962 Chevrolet really committed itself to the sporty image they had created for the Corvair by finally introducing a Convertible version and then offering a high performance 150 hp turbocharged “Spyder” option for Monza coupes and convertibles, making the Corvair the second production automobile to come with a turbocharger as a factory option. Inside, the original front and rear black seats all look great with no major signs of major wear visible. The door panels and dashboard also appear original and look great. . The engine and trunk bays are extremely clean and show well. Paint and body are clean with no visible rust or major repair. . The overall quality is great and is more on the survivor side and not a 100 point restored car! This beautifully driver quality Spyder features a date correct (YR) 164 cid flat six cylinder turbo mated to a older rebuilt 4 speed manual transmission, newer brakes, shocks, coils and more. Included is a new float for the fuel sending unit since the fuel gauge isn't working, this exceptional Corvair goes down the road with ease. Topping off the look are a set of 14 inch polished and gold painted wheels with like new tires. These Chevy Corvairs are becoming increasingly hard to find and this one has to be one of the nicer examples available for sale today! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! The soft top was replaced less then two years ago and still looks new! Rare hardtop included which is in excellent condition.
