Up for sale is a clean, mechanically sound and almost completely original 1978 911 SC Targa. Updates include: newer radio, Carrera chain tensioner, new airbox with pop off valve, air conditioning retrofitted to R134a. Additionally, the transmission was rebuilt at 74,000 miles, and the engine was rebuilt at 53,000 miles, when modern head studs were installed. Many mechanical parts were replaced over the years. Essentially everything affecting appearance is original, even the paint, with the exception of the front and rear valances, which have been re-sprayed. The transmission shifts flawlessly (once it is warmed up after a couple of miles of driving – – which is normal for this car). The engine runs strong. The car was always garaged, and never driven in the winter. No rust. No leaks. No smoke. Options include the leather interior, Fuchs forged alloy wheels, rear speakers, power windows, power mirrors. air conditioning. What it still needs: hood struts , antenna power unit, and a working wiper motor. I have a replacement wiper motor included in the sale, I just haven't had the time to replace it myself. The air-conditioning works, but it needs to be recharged. I just changed the oil, and it will be another 5000 miles before it needs a valve adjustment. Other items: there are a number of very small chips in the paint, as one might expect. As you can see from the photographs, they do not detract from the appearance of the vehicle. There is also a small hole in the passenger side seat. And there is a little play in the driver's seat. Also included: service records from new, window sticker, two service manuals (including the Bentley), car cover and lock, mirror covers, 22 oil filters, and an air filter. There is quite a bit of smoke on start up the first time being driven after being stored over winter.
