Vehicle Detail

I purchased this bike a couple of weeks ago with the intention of turning it into a cafe racer, but I already have three projects underway, so either I sell it now or I mothball it for several months. This bike is a perfect candidate for a custom conversion, of ride it as-is and tweak it to suit your tastes. Previous owner did a recent carb cleaning and top-end refresh/reseal, so the bike is running very strongly and is apparently leak-free. Starts instantaneously. All lights, switches, and instruments in working order. The 5-speed gearbox shifts up and down without any false neutrals, though it takes a bit more effort than I would like. But I may just have been spoiled by my K75. "Monza Blue" painted parts are in very good condition, but not perfect (see pics). Frame is dead straight. Lester mag wheels are in excellent condition and will clean up well with a bit of elbow grease. I haven't opened up any of the bearings (steerer, wheel, swingarm), but the bike does track straight at speed (see forthcoming video) without any weirdness. If I were keeping it long-term, I would service the bearings, change all the fluids, synch the carbs, the usual. I did flush the brake master cylinder/lines/caliper and resurfaced the pads, and it now stops like a single-disc ATE. Because I haven't had the bike for very long, I can't really vouch for it like a bike that I've restored myself, but I've owned a score of Airheads and this one feels really good all-around, especially for a 40 year old road-going machine. The bike is titled as original mileage of around 7K, but without extensive records it's impossible to say for sure. The bike has a Massachusetts VIN plate affixed to the steering head gusset plate, and a clean Massachusetts title signed open by the previous owner. I brought it to Vermont and had the local PD do a VIN verification which came back clear. I haven't registered the bike in my name, so I've just been running it up and down the road locally to test out the drive train and other systems (see forthcoming video). I build a lot of bikes, so I have various spares, extras, and alternatives if interested. I have a set of chrome luggage racks and nice Krauser type hard suitcases I would sell for $400 installed. I have a set of killer aluminum GS-type cases I would sell for $800 installed. I have a nice stock dual seat (with sissy bar) that could swap for the solo seat at no extra cost. I have a pair of very clean Progressive Suspension shocks I would sell for $200 installed. I can swap out the handlebars for your choice at cost (for example, a Flanders S-type bar costs around $75 new) + $50 labor. Not sure what else. If interested in these or other mods/swaps/upgrades, ask for pics and details. Include a phone number in your message and I'll call you back. This vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, with no warrantee expressed or implied. In-person inspections are welcome; test rides are available, provided you have a trustworthy face, MC endorsement, and cash in hand! Transport is the sole responsibility of the buyer.
