Vehicle Detail
Selling my great bike to make room for another. This soon-to-be classic BMW R1100S has a cult following, and there are reasons why. It is not the fastest, lightest or most powerful bike out there, but it handles great and always a blast to ride. Here is a list of the tasteful mods done: -Cat Eliminator pipe - reduced bike weight by 15 lbs. and makes a great sound -Updated Cam chain tensioner from Ted Porters Beemer shop - Factory tensioner is not strong enough -Spiegler Stainless Steel Braided brake lines - originals were rubber and worn out -Brass Bushings for Paralever rear suspension from Rubber Chicken Racing - Improvement over the stock roller bearings in my opinion -LED rubber mounted rear turn signals - with appropriate resistors to make them flash correctly -12 volt trickle charger hard wired to battery -Auxiliary Positive Terminal Post on starter from Ted Porters Beemer Shop - in case of dead battery, it can be jump started with positive battery cable connected to the starter and negative to engine case -Front Fender Extender - helps keep front of engine cleaner -Stainless Steel hardware throughout - replace rusty hardware -AF-XiED Fuel Controller from Beemer Boneyard - fixes factory lean issue. Runs smooth without hesitation throughout rev range-Newly recovered Corbin seat with "port" in the rear of seat to affix passenger backrest. Covered in a tan/brown leather that was an optional color in '99. -Auxiliary driving lights mounted on front, lower caliper bolts -Fuel Line Quick Disconnects from Beemer Boneyard - No need to drain the fuel tank to do maintenance under the tank -Cee Bailey windscreen - better than stock in my opinion -Atach brand GPS speedometer with compass heading - more accurate than stock -Intake runners off a BMW GS - supposed to make more torque Maintenance performed in the last 6 months: Front fork sliders, seals and fork oil Engine oil and filter every 3000 miles All clutch and driveshaft splines lubed with Honda Moly 2,000 miles ago - a fairly large job, so it is good for another 18,000 miles Final drive replaced 2 weeks ago - This is the only failure I have had with this bike. Felt a "clicking" in my left footpeg on the way home one night, next morning had a puddle of gear oil under the rear tire. I found a used, 35,000 mile unit off an 1150 RS on Ebay and slid it right in. Many parts are interchangeable on different models of BMW's. Tires were fitted about 2000 miles ago. Plenty of life left. The extras: Nelson Rigg carbon fiber expandable soft sided saddlebags RKA tank bag Haynes manual Stock seat, black Stock intake runners Spare final drive - needs rebuilt Original speedometer with wheel speed pickup wiring harness This has been a great bike for me. I ride everyday (no car) and it has performed flawlessly. But, it is not perfect. It has some scratches from everyday use and a nick in the carbon fiber front fender from a kicked up rock. Bring a car to carry all the extras! On Apr-08-16 at 10:25:26 PDT, seller added the following information: New lower reserve on 4/8/16On Apr-13-16 at 10:36:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Lowered reserve again.
