Vehicle Detail

My ”Screaming Yellow Zonker” (to steal a name from a unique popcorn product back in the sixties) is up for sale! 1994 BMW R100RT with Velorex Sidecar. The last of the airhead generation combined with a Velorex sidecar is probably one of the prettiest rig that you can imagine. This bike is in very good condition.GIVI topcase. Corbin seat with matching yellow piping. Oversized windscreen keeps the wind off your face and hands. It starts and shifts well. The conversion was done by Perry's of Fort Worth, Texas about twenty years ago with the "triple-tree" steering dampener. Perry's does a lot of conversions and restorations, and specializes in sidecar/hack rigs. I just spoke with Mary at Perry's, and she remembers the bike well. It was as bit of a mess when they received it, but they sure made it pretty. The paint is still in very good condition, except for sone chipping under the right side of the seat. I use "Pledge", the furniture wax after every ride, something I learned from a rider at a meet in Wisconsin years ago. I bought the bike early last summer, to tool around the neighborhood with my grandkids in the car, but my daughter had other ideas about that! I had a lot of work done on the bike, then trailered it down to Florida where it received new tires and battery, along with a re-rebuild of the carbs, as it wasn't running quire right. The dealer found that it had different size jets in each of the two carbs. Now it runs great! I also wired it for use with a GPS, but putting a socket under the seat, and a suction-cup mount on top of the instruments. I will be keeping the GPS for my next bike! The reason I am selling the rig is that I have replacement shoulders and carpal-tunnel problems in my wrists. The sidecar rigs are "steered", not "push-right-go-right, push-left-go-left" or leaning, and it's hard on my bod! I am used to the two-wheelers and my old riding style. The entire rig tracks well and attracts a lot of attention.
