Vehicle Detail

This is my daily driver 2006 CBR1000RR. I bought this bike in March of 2012 with 9000 miles on it. It has served me flawlessly 7 months of the year since then. The bad news first. I dropped the bike in my garage on its left side. the pictures show the damage from the drop. The stator cover, the bar end, the tail and the lower fairing are slightly scuffed. The clutch lever broke off and put a nick in the graphic sticker on the side fairing. The mirror and front turn signal also snapped off. The mirrors were replaced with a faux carbon fiber aftermarket style, and I upgraded to CRG shorty levers. I also installed flushmount LED turn signals. The not-so-bad news. This bike does have 38,000 miles on it. I can not attest to how it was ridden its first 9000 miles, but it has been adult ridden since then. No track days, and due to my commute, a lot of easy going highway miles. the oil has been changed every 2500 miles with either Amsoil or Mobil 1 Racing 4T. It has a BMC air filter. I did the flapper valve mod as soon as I got the bike, and punched out the baffles in the muffler. It sounds a bit throatier than stock, but isn't obnoxiously loud. The back tire is a brand new (less than 500 miles) Dunlop Q3. The front is also a Q3 that has a bit of life still left in it. Brakes were done at the end of last season. The rear rotor does have a bit of scoring from a pad failure early last year. The chain and sprockets were done at the end of 2014. I did a 520 chain conversion with Superlite sprockets and a DID X-ring chain. I maintained the stock gearing. The pictures show the chain still has a good amount of life in it, as it has been lubed every 500 miles. The clutch is still tight, and the suspension is rock solid (I'm not a huge fan of wheelies). The throttle response is still instantaneous, and the motor still pulls just like it did when I bought it. The battery is still original, has no problems starting the bike, and gets disconnected and hooked to a tender during the off season. The plugs were changed at the 16,000 mile service, and I was told the valves did not need to be reshimmed at the time. The windscreen is a special custom job (I rattle canned it in a metallic silver that matched the bike). I also added a CustomLED integrated taillight/turn signal that can be programmed for different turn signal/brake light patterns. This would be a great first liter bike for someone looking to step up. The 1000RR has always been touted as the easiest to ride 1000cc in all of its iterations. This bike has been great to me, and I'm sure it will be just as great to you!
