Vehicle Detail
We are selling a 1970 Datsun 240Z that needs restoration. The car has been sitting out in palm springs for about fifteen years without being moved and driven. Firstly, I will describe as best I can regarding the condition, as you might well know that a car that sits for that period of time in the sun deteriorates drastically. So there is minimal rust - just slight surface and a rust patch at the bottom of the right front fender. The top of the fenders are slightly dented, as if someone walked on them and the roof around the sunroof area. The hood has a about a quarter inch of bondo in the center. The pictures should tell you it all.The interior is missing both door panels and the seat leather is rock hard. Most of the gauges work except the gas gauge. The dash is complete with all the gauges and does have a dash cap.In the back of the car are numerous parts - such as,some of the lights and the original air cleaner and a few other bits and pieces. We have replaced numerous parts to get the car going but have decided to let it go the way it is. The parts include - a new battery, starter motor, new fuel pump and filter, new spark plugs, new points and condenser, new clutch master and slave cylinders. We have drained the the fuel tank and added fresh gas to the system. Cleaned out the carburettors and fitted new kits. I have driven the car and found that the clutch operates like it should and so as the transmission. I could not go too far as the brakes are not functional - the rear brake hoses are perished and leaking fluid. The motor sounds strong and runs great with the choke on and when warm, but does backfire slightly through the carburettors on acceleration. The cooling system needs a flush as I think the radiator is slightly blocked. After idling the car for about half hour the temperature does go up and not where it should be.I do believe the motor is out of a Datsun 280Z.You can call me if you need more information at 310-316-5300 and ask for Ronnie
