I’m finally selling my 1979 Westfalia that I’ve owned since 2008. The bus is in very good condition, and I hate having to part with it. It was my daily driver for a few years, and I’ve tried hard to keep it in great condition. I have all of the maintenance receipts since 2002 because the owner before me kept his receipts and gave them to me. It has a clean title, and I have the title in hand. The odometer currently states 71173. Mechanically, it’s in excellent condition, it doesn’t burn oil, and it passed the California smog test with flying colors just a couple of weeks ago. I’ve taken it on several road trips throughout California and Oregon, and it never gave me a single problem. The engine, transmission, and everything “under the hood” is is top notch condition. It comes with a bra, though I’ve never put it on. As far as I can see, no floor panel has ever been patched. The stove and sink work great. I’ll list all of the things that I’m aware of that don’t work: The radio, gas gauge, driver side key lock (the door locks, but it can’t be locked or unlocked by a key), and the refrigerator (I believe that all the parts are there, but I never tried to make it work). A handle is missing on one of the interior cabinets under the sink. At some point in the past, part of the bus was repainted and some paint has faded a little more than the other, so the front and one side is just a slightly different shade than the rest. It’s not obvious, but if you look for it, you can see it. Cosmetically, the following things need work. There are a few places (in the pictures) where the paint has chipped off. There was very minor surface rust, but I scraped it off (you can see in the pictures). The drivers seat needs to be re-covered. There’s also a small tear in the screen window in the pop top. Please note that there is no rust in the floorboards or underneath. The front and rear bumpers also have a tiny bit of surface rust. To be fair, I tried to take pictures of all of the things that still need work. Realistically, if someone were to re-paint it, re-cover the driver’s seat, and fix the minor things above, it would be an absolutely beautiful bus in excellent mechanical condition. Here’s the work that I’ve done (and I have receipts for everything listed below). All of this work was done at Kombi Haus, the premier VW bus repair and restoration shop in the Sacramento area. On Mar-01-16 at 18:22:38 PST, seller added the following information: Update: I forgot to add that the upholstery on the rear bench seat is ripping also, so it would need to be re-covered along with the driver's seat. You can see the two places along the top where it's ripping in both pictures of the rear seat. Thanks.
