Vehicle Detail
Reliable 1995 Subaru Impreza, clean title. Runs fine, but water pump needs replacing. Good parts car or project car, or you can fix the water pump & drive her. We will consider all offers. Buyer will need to pick up the car. Car is being sold in as-is condition. History: We're the third owners that we know of; the carfax estimates 6. The owner before us drove the car for a couple years & then parked it and went on vacation to the Virgin Islands, found a job as a bartender & didn't come back. The car sat in a driveway under a pine tree for a few years, hence the paint oxidized essentially down to the primer. We purchased the car, washed it, put new tires & new battery in, and drove for another 9 years with no problems. As our mechanic told us, it's a Subaru, you could drive it until every piece fell off except the wheels & engine and it would still drive. Although I wouldn't recommend driving it like that. Most recent repairs we made to this Impreza were: new serpentine belt, 2015; new battery, Sept. 2014; replaced rear windshield, Feb. 2014 (the rear defroster works fine); replaced the right tail light assembly, Nov. 2013; replaced one of the fuel injectors, March 2013; replaced the starter, ~2011. The A/C compressor we disconnected as it was beginning to rust & would have just been a power drain on the engine. We changed the oil regularly every 3,000-5,000 miles. Other issues if you plan to drive the car: brakes, shocks & struts likely need replacing. There is a short in one of the wires leading to the rear brake lights that I was never able to track down, so one light intermittently will not light on pressing the brake pedal. Also the brake light comes on in temperatures below 35 degrees but not above 40 degrees, which is weird. According to the oil change folks the seals on the oil pan are beginning to leak, however there has been no noticeable change in oil level between the last 3 oil changes & I have not noticed any drips under the car, but please be aware of it. On the water pump issue -- the car overheated for the first time ever a few weeks ago, I rolled straight into a garage as soon as I noticed it because overheating is bad for any engine but especially a Subaru. Had a mechanic check everything out & the only problem he mentioned was the water pump. The quotes I got for the repair are more than I want to spend on this car. As I said it is still driveable, but at this age may do better as a parts car or a project car. Please note this car is being sold in as-is condition; there may be other issues with the car that I don't know about.
