Vehicle Detail
Info I'm the second owner of this 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport with 151K miles. The first owner put 100K miles on it, which was a big reason I purchased it - I figured if someone kept their TJ for ten years and 100K miles, it was one of the "good ones." That has certainly been the case. I've owned this tremendous vehicle for four years, and it has been the most reliable used vehicle I have ever owned. I hate to sell it, but I have been driving it 60 miles a day on the LIE for four years now, and am now making more frequent trips to NH as well, so it's time to get something a little more up-to-date for me (just picked up a 2012 JK 2-door). The Good The vehicle runs and drives great. When I bought it, the clutch had just been done, along with the main seal. It was basically a one-owner, ten-year-old clean TJ. The previous owner had put a 2" Skyjacker budget boost on it with JK wheels and spacers, so I immediately removed those in favor of its current black 15" Ultra alloys with 31" Duratracs, and also put Bilstein 5100's on it as well as soon as I got it. I have rotated the tires (including the spare) religiously every 5K miles, and have used synthetic (Mobil1 or Royal Purple) 10W30 every 6K miles. The differential oil has been changed twice in 50K miles. Once when I got it, and then again 10K miles ago. The AC blows nice and cold in the summer and has since I got the Jeep. Also has cruise control. Driving down the road, you can just feel this Jeep has been cared for and maintained. The steering and road feel is tight, the transmission and clutch work fantastic, and the engine pulls strong. Also, I love the growl of the inline-6 with the Banks Monster exhaust. The undercarriage has some surface rust, but the rails are solid. The stereo sounds great, even with the top down. Here is the list of improvements and repairs that have been done over the years, from recent to oldest with approximate time of each. My exclusive mechanic is a Jeep specialist here on Long Island. Brand new front pads/rotors (had mechanic use quality parts - brakes are excellent) (Jan 2016) New drag link & adjuster sleeve (Jan 2016) New pinion and carrier bearings in rear differential (Jan 2016) Stock subwoofer replaced with proper Quadratec OEM replacement (Dec 2015) Head gasket replaced (July 2015) Starter replaced (July 2014) Front upper/lower control arms/bushings replaced (July 2014) Teraflex SYE kit, with new transfer case chain, new driveshaft & CV joints (July 2014) Custom rear bumper with tow rings & receiver hitch+wiring (Dec 2013) DieHard Platinum Battery (2013?) Air idle control valve and throttle position sensor (throttle body cleaned as well) (2013) Banks Monster catback exhaust system (2013) Quadratec halogen headlight conversion (2012) Stronger hood latch kit (2012) Polk speakers in front and soundbar w/polyfill and speaker cups in front (2012) Rear differential spider gears replaced (2012) Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth/USB (2012) The Jeep comes with three tops - the hard top, an OEM soft top that is pretty scratched up but which I still use (completely hardware is included as well) and a new-in-box (never even opened) OEM-style Rugged Ridge black soft w/tinted windows as well. I also have the front bumper plastic pieces that will go with the Jeep. I just don't like them personally, so I took them off. I have also put a heated seat element in the driver's side seat this past winter, but just never wired it into the Jeep. I have the wiring and a passenger heater element as well (that I never put in) and those will go with the Jeep as well. Just never had the time to do it. The Not So Good Well, this is a 14 year old vehicle, so the finish is worn and there is some rust starting on the body, but nothing you shouldn't be able to stay ahead of. I have taken pictures of all of it so you can see exactly what you're getting. There is no point in me hiding anything because I want you to be happy with this transaction, and the last thing I want is someone coming back and saying I didn't tell them something, so I always err on the side of showing and telling everything. The frame is solid, but there is the usual surface rust. The center console lid screws are stripped and there is no lock (bought it like this four years ago). Also, the passenger side foglight has been cracked for about a year, and a chip is out of it. Still works fine though. Other Details Basically, I wanted to show the good and not so good on this vehicle so you know exactly what you're getting. I work hard to keep my feedback at 100% and want us both to be happy with the transaction. This was my daily driver for four years, and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere right now. The engine pulls strong and the transmission shifts cleanly and crisply. The steering is tight, you could drove from NY to CA and never get any death wobble. I have taken care of all suspension/steering components since I got the vehicle to ensure that. The Dana 44 rear end has been rebuilt, there are new high-quality brakes on the front (I had intended to keep the vehicle when I had them done less than 100 miles ago). Contact me if you need more information or if you'd like to come check it out. I'm in central Long Island and I fully encourage you to come drive it. Please don't purchase the vehicle and expect to negotiate after the fact. The vehicle is available for inspection and to drive. Just contact me using the eBay contact form and we'll arrange it. I also have the vehicle listed for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. Please do not contact me if you are selling any other service for vehicle sales. I am also not interested in trades. US buyers/bidders only (despite the fact that it says I will ship to other locations, this is not true, there just doesn't seem to be a way to change that in the new eBay listings -- this is a US ONLY sale). Deposit of $500 is due via Paypal immediately upon using "Buy It Now" or your offer being accepted, and the balance and vehicle pickup is due within three days following that in the form of cash or a cashier's check.
