Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1997 Ford Escort Wagon in boysenberry blue, with a gray interior. This car was purchased new by my mother-in-law, and has been in the family ever since. It's kind of a cliche to hear about the car only driven on Sundays by a little old lady (she's 82 now), but in this case it's true! My father-in-law passed away some time ago, and she kept his car, and ceded the Escort to her son, who used it to commute to the train station. He recently purchased a new car, so I took the Escort and prepared it for sale. So, my wife and I gave it a complete cleaning, and then I did the following: Engine oil and filter change Complete transmission flush with new filter (not just a drain and fill) Replaced catalytic converter (brand new) Replaced entire exhaust system and muffler (the entire system is new) Replaced front sway bar end links Radiator flush and refill with new coolant Complete brake inspection (pads and shoes are like new - brakes are all set for a long time) The car is in great shape, and has been garage kept for almost all of its life, and it shows. There is no rust in any of the wheel wells. A single accident comes up on the Carfax report, but Adele (that's my mother-in-law) can't remember what it was. There is a very small dent in the left rear (hey, she was in her 80's, and her vision isn't what it used to be!), so that is likely the cause. It's really a cream puff - just look at the pics. The interior is almost perfect, with no rips or holes in any of the seats. This car is from a non-smoking family, and the ashtrays have never even seen a cigarette. A common problem on these vehicles is a frayed wiring harness for the rear hatch, but this one has no issues. Everything in the rear hatch works - wipers, washer pump, all lights, rear defrost, etc. In the attached pics, you can see all the original documentation, service history log, owner's manual, quick guide, etc. I attached a pic of a sample page of the service log - Ed was very meticulous with the maintenance of the car (he was an architect, and kept up with maintenance on all his possessions - very "old school"). Everything on the car works properly - there are no broken switches, lights, or accessories. The tires, Goodyear Integritys, are at about 60%, so you won't have to worry about them for a while. The bottom line is this is a very lightly used, extremely well cared for vehicle with only 111,217 miles. It needs nothing, everything is up to date. Drive it home with confidence. This is just a great little car for New England winters, great in the snow, and with tons of interior space. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, and I will provide an answer quickly. A $200.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of auction close. Also, please don't bid if you don't intend to take the car. The family has been through enough after Ed's passing, and we don't need any more stress. We'd just like to find a good home for the car. Good luck, and happy bidding.
