Vehicle Detail
I have NEVER seen another truck like this one! 1984 Dodge D350 Crew Cab, long bed 2WD, with single rear wheels and the Prospector trim! Body, interior and seats are not perfect, but are in great shape for being 32 years old! I have paperwork for the truck beginning with the day it was sold new in Detroit on June 11, 1984. The original owners moved to Tennessee the following year, which explains why the truck is so solid. The 727 transmission is good, the rearend is quiet, the brake shoes, pads, rotors, drums, wheel cylinders, calipers, wheel bearings and seals, axle bearings and seals, fuel pump and carburetor were all replaced when I bought the truck in 2014. The engine runs rough, but plenty well enough to make it home to your shop for the inevitable Cummins swap. I'm the second owner, and I've owned it for nearly two years. The rear spring shackle hangers were modified and moved up two inches to lower the rear, easily reversed to bring the truck back to stock height. The front coils were cut to lower the front, again, easily reversed by simply installing stock coils. The 16" wheels are from a 2000 Ram, and I think they fit the look of the truck perfectly. The new front bumper is a 1986-89 style, using 1986 brackets. The tube grille was on it when I bought it. There is rust (see pictures) at the front of the bed, on both sides of the interior along the bottom of the panel separating the front and rear doors, on the interior of the roof above the panel between the passenger side doors, and a small spot on the passenger fender. The tailgate has rust, so a very straight, solid replacement comes with the truck. I questioned the original owner about the weird rust on the bed, since the rest of the bed appears to be solid. She said they used it mainly to pull a 24 foot camper and always had a cap on the truck. The only thing we could think of is that the water ran down the cap and into two holes in the front wall of the bed, where it rusted that panel. I would simply weld a new one in as the rest of the bed seems very solid. The passenger rocker panel has some dings in it, but both rockers, cab floor, bottoms of all four doors all are very, very clean! The gauges work fine most of the time, but probably need the connections cleaned. Aftermarket A/C was installed by the dealer but it was a crappy system. Heater blower switch is bad, possibly due to modifications made to the heater control for the add-on A/C? I would recommend transplanting a factory heat - A/C setup. It needs window and door seals. I have a spare one-piece OEM back window glass I was going to use to replace the slider, if the buyer wants it. Overall this is a nice, solid, VERY RARE truck that deserves an owner who will appreciate the fact that he or she is driving something you just don't see every day! GREAT candidate for a Cummins swap! Note: the pic in front of the city of Nashville shows the truck in 2015 at stock height with 245/75/16 tires all around. All other pics show it as it is NOW, lowered slightly front and rear with 265/75/16 tires on the rear.
