1999 VW Jetta 1999 VW Jetta Needs a little love, but the price will be right! Up for a NO RESERVE auction is this red 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. It features the 2.0 4 cylinder motor and a 5 speed manual transmission. The car has 191,566 miles on it. The car features manual (crank) windows and mirrors, but it does have power locks. The heat works and the air conditioner was cool but not cold. The car also has a nice JVC aftermarket CD player. It runs and drives, but as with most cars of this age and mileage, it does have some issues. It will need a good cleaning. 2 tires have good tread, the other 2 are somewhat low. The ebrake does not work and there is an exhaust leak. The clutch does function, however it does show its age (I have personally seen a few VWs go 250k miles on the original clutch). The paint is not beautiful- as you can see in the photos there is peeling and rusty spots along with some scrapes and dents and rot on the fenders (see photos). There is also a long crack in the windshield on the drivers side, it may be hard to see in the photos but it is there. Also, the front bumper cover is loose. The oil pan appears to have been damaged at some point and has been repaired (does not look pretty but does it need to? It doesnt appear to leak). The check engine light was on when I purchased the car, but when I went to drive it to take these photos, it was not on and did not come back on. Hopefully it stays off, but no guarantees. Last but not least, the oil dipstick is cracked at the bottom so there is some smoke coming out of there, I do not believe it is anything serious. Could probably just be covered up but I did not want to hide anything! Sure, that sounds like it needs a lot of work, but where else is someone going to be so honest about the work an old car needs?! I am selling this car AS-IS at a no reserve auction to the highest bidder! It would be great if you need some parts or if you are looking for a winter beater and can do the work yourself. If the vehicle is left here longer than the 7 days without other arraignments made, it will be subject to a $20 per day storage fee.
