Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 2003 R1150RT-P. This is a great bike that has run flawless for the two years I have owned it. The previous owner boght it at a police auction, but then had to sell it shortly thereafter because of a work-related move. It has ~43K mile miles on it, with 28K on the odomoeter. The speedo/odo unit was replaced at 15K by the police department. I have the document supporting this work. The bike is far from flawless, but it is a great bike. I have added a marine stereo/mp3 player, aftermarket speakers, PIAA lights, mirrors, a top case and storage tubes. I had also just put on two new tires and then the chain tensioner failed. I have been riding this bike for over two years without an issue until recently the chain tensioner on the left side failed. For those of you that know this bike, it is a known issue...too bad I found that out AFTER it failed. The failed tensioner caused the upper and lower chain guides to fail. The remnants of the guide now sit in the oil sump. The broken guide needs to be removed and replaced. This will require removing the engine. After that, there are two ways to remove and replace the guide; one involves splitting the case and the other not. There is a how-to video on YouTube, just search "R1150RT chain guide" Unfortunately, I do not have the time, skills or tools necessary to do the work. The work is all labor....costs for the parts are minimal. It's one of those situations where you're on the fence whether or not to fix or sell as-is. I am selling it as is. The bike runs and can be ridden, but I would not recommend doing that for more than a few miles. The other things that needs to be repaired are two of the four threaded holes that accept the valve cover. I'm not sure how, but they are stripped and need to be re-threaded. I am selling it as-is. It is available for local pickup only. I do have a reasonable minimum price set on this, but low enough where the winning bidder will get a great bike that just needs the hand of a owner who has the time and skill necessary to get it back on the road. Here is a video so you can see the bike live: search "R1150RT-P For Sale" on YouTube. LOCAL PICKUP ONLY.
