Vehicle Detail
1952 Chevy Pickup 3100 What happens when a life-long car builder builds a dream pickup with no limits? You get a razor sharp head turner like this and the cleanest 3100’s pickup on the planet. The product of uncompromised vision and talent this incredible half-ton is a unique combination of time, talent and attention to detail. If you are a fellow enthusiast who is looking to satisfy an unrelenting need to headline shows and make a big statement this is the truck. This truck has been shown and is ready to win in any contest it meets. This beautiful example of a Chevrolet pickup was built by a Father and Son team in Indiana. It took 15 years to handcraft almost every piece and massage it into the truck you see here. First it was stripped down to the bare frame where it was fully boxed and relieved of its stock suspension components. A Mustang II frontend was installed along with its rack and pinion steering. Out back the 9” Ford rear was fitted with 3:23 gears and hung with a custom 4 bar rear suspension and panhard bar. Both ends are suspended with a Ridetech airbag system. Tank and pump are under the bed while the valve assemblies are mounted under the driver’s seat. The exterior was kept mostly stock, but some modifications were done including removal of door handles, sealing of the right cowl venting from behind, mini tubs were added to the bed to accommodate the Wheel Vintiques 17x8” smoothie wheels in the rear and 275 55R 17 tires. Other sheet metal modifications include an extension of the dash to house the a/c vents and stereo system, flushing of the original radio hole in the dash, and a clean-up of the inside area of the doors. The hood was welded, to make it one piece. The interior is yet another work of art and the object of well thought out planning, it was professionally done in light grey leather, including the headliner and custom made console that surrounds a Lokar Shifter. Square weave grey carpet rounds out the package. Ice cold A/C and heat by Vintage Air, steering column by Ididit, steering wheel by Billet Specialties, and gauges by New Vintage USA. Pioneer Bluetooth hands free stereo feeds into a 4 speaker system. All new tinted glass was custom fitted, and yes the cowl vent works! Under the hood you will notice a Bitchin Products firewall, custom made firewall struts in polished aluminum. The engine is a crate ZZ-4 backed by a custom built 700R4 transmission. The engine has a Vintage Air front runner system and the custom aluminum radiator is cooled by a 16” electric fan and custom shroud. The custom inner wheel wells in the front clean-up the engine compartment, and then the whole compartment is painted satin body color. Edelbrock Endurashine intake and carburetor are covered by a reproduction Caddy air cleaner. A complete compliment of MSD ignition is tastefully hidden under the dash. The beautiful bed of the truck is laid out with custom cut Sycamore wood, surrounded by the custom made inner wheel wells painted in Woodland Green Axalta (DuPont) body color. The gas tank fill is flush mounted in the bed. Hidden latches for the tailgate replace the old chain system to provide a cleaner look. Stake pockets have been filled and the entire bed has been cleaned up. A custom roll pan was fitted in the rear and slightly above that a recessed LED light bar was installed. Stock style taillights were used after being fitted with LED lights. A bed box has been covered in matching naugahyde and has soft marine carpeting on the front and bottom as to never mar the wood in the bed, and it is not bolted through the floor in anyway. The truck runs excellently, it is tight and feels new, because it is! It only has 5200 miles, gets reasonably good gas mileage (about 20 mpg) and the interior is silent and well insulated with Dynamat. It is also NSRA safety inspected. All pictures shown in this ad were done with the bags in the fully down position, ride height is about 4” higher. The truck is featured in an upcoming issue of Classic Trucks by Chuck Varanus.
