Best Co. Here we have an excellent and rare D code coupe ! Owned for 25 years by a collector who kept it pristine and in excellent running condition . This Coupe retains all of its original sheet metal and is rust free . It is a matching numbers unit with a date code on it's 289 of 2C5 representing a March 5, 1962 . ( see in photos below ) . All of its original components are in place which signify a true 1964.5 Early Build . This car was a Special Order Unit 6048 Built in the Dearborn Plant with a DSO of Dallas Texas . This car was freshened up in 2006 which included new paint and interior . It has a new dash pad / head liner replaced as well as windlace and weather stripping on doors and door panels . The Paint is Brilliant and Lustrous and of high quality . It has a smooth mirror like finish with no chips and only minor touch ups an the roll pans . It shows like a diamond ! The lines on this car are super straight and are the evidence of how well this car has been preserved and maintained . No accidents or major dents have been incurred leaving straight panels and alignments. ( A rare feat to find on many older mustangs on the market .) The undercarriage is impeccable and very straight and tight without any rust . The towers , torque boxes and floor pans are very strong and without any deterioration . The gas tank looks to have been replaced and the trunk is sound and finished with a custom carpet and spare tire cover . The owner spent over $400 to have this carpet custom made and installed . There is $1000's of dollars of receipts for the car that will be included in the sale . Engine rebuilt in 2006 has less then 1500 miles on it ! This car starts in half a turn and runs smooth and very responsive . The engine compartment is very nicely detailed and tastefully appointed with aluminum mustang valve covers as well as Ford Motorsports oil/breather caps . A chrome air breather is set on the original rebuilt fomoco carburetor . A chrome Ford Motorsports oil pan is also part of the engine dress up . The generator has been rebuilt and works well . The AC is not functioning and will need a charge. All components and lines are in place . The heater core has been replaced as receipts state. The gauges work as well as the lights but the interior door lights have been removed or disconnected . There is also an alternate horn button mounted on the steering column which is used instead of the steering wheel ring . All suspension components have been replaced including leaf springs , coil springs and shocks. Ball joints and control arms are replaced along with tie rod ends. Brakes , Master cylinder and wheel cylinders have been replaced /repaired as well as necessary brake lines . This car has been NYS inspected to date . The sticker is present on the windshield . All glass is original and in very good condition . The car has no apparent leaks and performs in great running condition .Transmission is smooth and quiet . This D code is among the rarest of the Mustangs and it is a substantial Driver . Outstanding in appearance with its beautiful red paint / white interior color combination it shows it classical sportiness and design and stands out in the corral !
