Vehicle Detail
Selling our 1973 Volkswagen Camper Bus. This bus will be great for the correct family or person. I will list the pros and cons below. The pictures tell the best story. Pros:Just about rust free. Take a look at the underside photos and notice the jack holes are excellent as are the rockers. No sign of any rust at all in those areas. The pop top is in great shape. There have been a few fixes to the screen. The canvas is about perfect. The fiberglass top is in great shape. The interior vinyl flaps and snaps for top have no imperfections. The Z bed and cushions are all there and have had a few stitches. The zipper on the big cushion needs fixed, just put back on its rail. The dash is not cracked and everything up there looks good. (see photo)The seats had been covered for years, so they are looking very nice. (see photo)I am including a set of curtains which can be used or as a pattern for new curtains. (see photo)The bug net is in excellent condition. (see photo)The transmission is tight and shifts nicely. The steering is tight, yes, it is tight! The all terrain tires look very good and have lots of life left. The brakes work fine. All doors work great and the keys fit and the tail gate actually locks with the key! Cons: The new owner should pull the engine and do the following:Oil cooler has a drip.Adjust the valvesThe clutch has a hop or flutter and either needs replaced or the adjusted.ONCE THESE THREE ITEMS ARE DONE, YOU ARE ON THE ROAD IN A WEEKEND'S WORK. BodyOriginal paint (this is good) with a touch up here and there. If you are looking for nice patina, you are set to go. Two small dents on the right sideThe left rear tail light was pushed in and needs pulled out. I have the replacement lens for it, so that is good. There seems to have been some minor front floor work, since I see black paint under the rubber mat. Other than that, this is an awesome example of a 42 year old bus.The door panels are all there, but the driver side panel had some water damage at some time in it's life. The drive wind wing lost it's little black circular knob, could be in the bus somewhere. The right side slider window, lost it's little finger plug. My "I'm no mechanic" summary is, for the right person you can get into a super nice camper bus, for a reasonable investment and truly in a weekend, be riding across the mountains, through the desert and to the beach. I used to be a weekend mechanic at best, which is probably an over rating, but I have had two back surgeries and I am now a no-mechanic, so I am selling all my toys. I will work with transportation companies, just let me know what you need. Yes, it can be driven onto a transportation truck. There is a $500 non-refundable deposit due at the close of the auction. Also, if you have an offer, let me know. If you have lots of questions, I will try, but most likely the answer is "I do not know". In the years, someone crossed a wire and you turn on the headlights to get power to the ignition, then turn the key. I do not know which wire it is to fix or I would switch it back. I am afraid I might mess it up. This will take 10 minutes for someone who knows the goods.
