Garage-kept, unrestored survivor car 4.5L fuel injected V8 – 190hp, 240 lb-ft Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection 3 speed automatic transmission Power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, factory a/c Power windows, central  locks, tinted glass Factory red leather interior Grey-blue metallic paint Production date 2 / 73 For more details on the 450SLC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_R107_and_C107   Questions about this Mercedes? EMAIL ME any time, or call / come see me during my office hours, and I'll get you all the answers you need.  All my contact info is at the bottom of this auction, in the "contact us" section. This is a NO RESERVE auction. This Mercedes WILL SELL to the high bidder at the end of the auction. Please, do not call or email asking "what'll it take to buy it?". It'll take a BID. Period. High bid owns it at the end - it's just that simple. Bookmark it, watch it, favorite it, put it in your Outlook calendar, set an alarm on your phone, leave yourself a note on the fridge...however you want to keep track of it so you don't miss out on the end of the auction!  All my bidders are welcome to check it out in person, I invite you to come see it here in Maryland - it's a beautiful car, and I know the new owner will be thrilled with it. But, don't come expecting to take it home - the auction WILL run its course. If you want to see it in person before you bid, take it for a spin, look it over...that's cool, I get that and I'm happy to take you out for a drive in it (it runs like a champ!). But when you like what you see, please - go home and BID ON THE CAR.  Since there is no reserve, your bid is a CONTRACT TO BUY. Please, read our "PAYMENT" section at the bottom of this auction for more details. This Mercedes is a gorgeous survivor. We got it from a loving owner who garage-kept it the whole time they owned it, and needed the equity when they were buying an RV from us here at the RV dealer. They drove it to us without a second thought, and we liked what we saw...so we took it on trade (and yes...it has a clear title...ready for YOUR name to be on it!). We've had it for a bit - my boss has driven it some, I've driven it some, we have a Mercedes-lover here on staff and he's driven it a bit...it's a great running car. I actually wouldn't hesitate to hop in it right now and take it wherever I needed to be. We put a new battery in it when we got it, and we've also put a new fuel pump in it (just junk in the tank from sitting most of its life - 33k miles in 42 years? That's a LOT of sitting still!!), it has a fresh fuel pump relay, new fuel filter, and we put fresh plugs in it as well. It runs as nicely as a new car, and it rides soooooo nice going down the road! But...it's time for us to part with it. We're an RV dealer, not a Mercedes museum, and this car deserves someone who will love it, baby it, get it back to tip-top shape inside and out. It's not perfect, but it's FAR from being a "project" - read below to see the (short) list of maintenance items it'll need in order to pass the ultra-strict Maryland safety inspection. Cosmetic stuff...you can do while you enjoy driving it. Like I said, it runs great and you can easily cruise around in it while you're tinkering with the minor stuff that needs attention - and, you're cruising around in a classic Mercedes!!! As you're reading the ad and looking at the photos, keep in mind - this car is 42 years old!! I've seen FOUR year old cars with more problems than this one!! The body is arrow-straight - I can't find a crooked line on it ANYWHERE. No dents, no body rust, solid rockers, solid floors, correct color-matched hubcaps...you can tell this has been well cared-for over the years. Why wouldn't it be? It's a Mercedes! Looking it over, it has been painted one time - ALL of it, not part of it, and none of us here see any signs of it being because of body damage at all. Back in the '70s they didn't have real good paint, and light blue metallics like these liked to fade. A lot. And, that's our guess - it faded to silver/white, the owners wanted it back to the correct color, so they had it updated with a fresh coat of factory-correct-color paint. If I hadn't seen a small tape line in the fuel door, and started looking super-closely at the rest of the car...I'd never have guessed it wasn't original paint. It's smooth, it's consistent, it's the correct color and there's not a ripple in it. The interior is also nice - perforated seats, good headiner, no cracks in the dash, good door panels, and a practically-virgin back seat. There's some sun fading in the carpeting - especially the little bump on the back shelf that holds the first aid kit - but I didn't see any stains or any signs of water leaks. The front seats...will need re-covered, the leather is dry and simply splitting at the seams. The cushions are still in great shape, and once you get new skins on the front seats you'll have an interior that's as gorgeous as the outside! All the gauges work, all the dash lights work, the power locks work, and three of the power windows work (the passenger door window does not go down, the regulator is broken). The vent fan blows and changes ducts like it should (dash/floor/defrost). Even the radio works! There are no funky odors - it just smells like old leather. I love that smell - it screams "classic car" to me! The only other issue I've seen with the interior is the drivers door armrest needs to be reattached to the door, the rear screws backed out and are inside the door. Pop the panel and thread them back in with a little loctite...you'll be all set there! The trunk is the ONLY place we saw any signs of water leaking - the fuel door appears to leak a little bit of water into the small bin on the side of the trunk. The pan is SOLID and the drain (like the factory knew it was going to leak or something...) works fine, but there is some surface rust in there that the new owner is going to want to spray with some undercoat or POR-15 just to dress it up a bit. We put this car through Maryland state safety inspection, just to see what it needed in order to pass the super strict laws here in MD (to see what all they make us check, click here - as you can see...it's a TON of stuff!) And this Mercedes, while it did fail, actually did quite well. No major surgery required; no body rust; no frame rust. We have NOT done any of the repairs - I am only including this list so my bidders know what Maryland would want addressed in order to issue a regular license plate (it is eligible for Historic tags in Maryland, however, and there is no inspection required for those). I've seen longer lists on two year old cars! What it needs to pass MD inspection (again, we are not doing any of these repairs here, this is for reference ONLY): Muffler needs replaced. Left rear turn signal bulb is out. Both rear side marker lights are out. Left inner tie rod needs replaced, looser than required. Front brake rotors need resurfaced (slight pulsing). Left front caliper sticking slightly. Front pads are low, need replaced. All four tires have dry cracking in the tread. Needs a battery hold-down strap. Lower control arm bushings are worn/need replaced. Center steering drag link needs replaced. And...a front end alignment once you do the front end work.  That's it. Maintenance stuff. I have more broken parts in ME than this car does!! Here are some photos I took while the car was up on the lift - you can see, there are NO HOLES. There is NO RUST in the floors or frame. The brakes look good, just those front rotors need to be turned to get rid of the slight warp. The rocker panels are SOLID. No signs of damage, impact, or accident - at all!  This is a nice, solid car! The doors still give a good, solid thunk! when you close them, not some tinny rattly sound like cars today. They simply don't make cars like this anymore - I know, I have a '72 Plymouth at home and am always amazed at the lack of plastic, and the heavy-gauge metal they used back then. These days, cars are built to be disposable - this Mercedes was built to LAST.  So...like it? Want to own it? Gotta have it? BID ON IT!!! And if you have questions about it, just email me (click the "ask seller a question" button, or use the information below in the "Contact Us" section) and I'll get you the answers you need. But...if you've got all the information you need...PLACE YOUR BIDS and GOOD LUCK!!! Whoever ends up with this Mercedes is going to be thrilled!  Why do we sell on eBay?  Exposure, plain and simple. We want as many people as possible to see our items, so we can sell more of them. What do we sell on eBay? Mainly RV's - we're an RV dealer, and we sell clear-title, private-party trade-ins. There's a scrolling gallery on every one of my auction pages that shows all our current listings - we've got a little of everything. Want a dirt-cheap project camper? Got 'em. Want a good deal on a nice RV? Got those too. Motorized, towable, popups, 5th wheels, travel trailers, you name it and I probably have one (or more) that will fit what you're looking for. Don't see what you're looking for? Email me! I'll see what else we've got in stock that might work for you! I said "mainly" RV's - sometimes we trade in non-RV's (like this Mercedes) towards an RV purchase. If we have a boat, or a motorcycle, or a car or truck in stock...we'll list them too. It's that exposure thing again - we want more people to see our units, so we can (naturally) sell those units! We try really hard not to be a museum...we're here to SELL, just like eBay shoppers are here to BUY. Can I sell it to you off eBay? Nope, not this one. If you like it, if you want it, if you have to have it...you gotta BID ON IT!!! All bidders must be 18 years of age or older. This is a NO RESERVE auction. The high bid at the end of the auction will own the item. Do not bid unless you are prepared to buy. Your bid is a legally binding contract to purchase this item as it is presented in this auction. If they don't have them to give to us, we won't be able to give them to you. Anything we DO get, we absolutely pass along - manuals, remotes, spare keys, etc - but not every unit has those items.
