Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE An all original 1970 Challenger barn find numbers matching, 225 slant 6, 3 speed manual on the floor, build month August 1969, build date August 11, 1969 “Challengers first started being built on August 1, 1969”, car is number 824 off the assembly line, FC7 Plum Crazy Purple, white interior, painted Plum Crazy steel wheels, center hub caps, 86k miles. In 1970 there were 79,474 Challengers built total, with only 9,927 slant 6 - 225 engines. Total built from 1970-1974 were 165,437 with only 1/3 remaining on the road today. There were under 500 slant 6 - 225 engines with the 3 speed option on the floor manual shift built, the remainder were column shift or automatics. If you take in to account how many were ordered with the Plum Crazy / white interior this 500 number drops again way below 500. The car has been off the road and hidden away for 25+ years until I purchased it. The engine was prepped before attempting to start. It turns over perfect but is getting no fire. The body on the car is excellent, only one quarter size rust spot behind the passenger front wheel. It will need a drivers floor and a trunk pan. All edges around the glass have no rust. The dash is nice and gauge cluster with radio all complete. Undercarriage and frame are all good and solid. I asked the local MOPAR club president to come and check the car out. He said has seen one slant 6 Challenger in all the shows he has attended and that it brought more interest than any other Challengers or Chargers at the show and suggested I do not touch the car and either restore it or sell it to someone who will. He said it will only be original once. Car has not been washed or cleaned, still like it was when I found it. I have the original Broadcast Sheet, spare rim, history leading back to dealership invoice and original purchaser from the dealer. The car has spent it's life in MS. Hemi is the rarest, with 198 6 cylinder in second place. The 225 - 6 cylinder is a very distant 3rd place, The 225 6 cylinder with 3 speed manual on the floor is the rarest of the 225 6 cylinders. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.. 228-860-9163 Clean MS title in hand. If you are planning to come to Cruisin the Coast in OCT, I can hold the car after full payment until you pick it up. I can also assist in arranging shipping. On Sep-09-15 at 07:48:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to let everyone know who are watching the auction and called with questions. I have lowered the reserve way way down. Someone will be winning this car tonight. Good Luck!!
