Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! NO RESERVE!!! General - I have had this vehicle for about 4 years, and other than regular maintenance, I have had few problems. The tires are good, brakes, shocks, are all ok. The air conditioner blows very cold, and has just recently been serviced. This was pretty extensive because the little vent doors are controlled by some vacuum servos that all had to be replaced. It meant pulling the entire dashboard out to find and replace them. If you are familiar with these cars and have seen the youtube videos on how to replace them, you know what a pain this can be. While the dashboard was all apart, I replaced the heater core just to be sure. There is no sense putting a 15 year old part back into an almost impossible place when you can get to it easily while the whole thing is apart. The Bad - It is 15 years old, and has spent a lot of time in school parking lots as my daughter uses it to go back and forth to college. Lots of nicks and scratches, but not so much that it isn't presentable. Neither of the back windows roll up or down. It seems as though the motors work, but the regulators are bad. I found them on the internet at 1AAUTO.COM so for $100 and an afternoon, they can be fixed easily. I just replaced the passenger side front regulator, and it was very simple. Thanks to Youtube for the great how-to demos. I wouldn't have attempted this without seeing it done on the video, but once I was into it, it was pretty easy. If you buy these, get the ones with the backing panels. So easy. Anyway..There is a crack in the front bumper-skin. It was there when we got it. Check the pictures. There is a weird stain in the back cargo area about the size of the palm of your hand. I think it is paint of some sort. Also has been there since before we bought it.The front seats are leather, but they are begining to crack from age and use. There are no holes yet, and we try to keep them conditioned, but they probably don't have a lot of life in them. I took a few pictures, I can send more if a bidder is interested. The car has some sort of odd-ball security system that came from the previous owner. I launch the alarm regularly, but it is simple to master. It requires that if you want to lock it from the outside with the remote key fob, you have to first unlock and then lock. You have to be careful where you take it for service. There is something about certain oil filters that, although listed as replacement, don't fit right and leak. A trip to Jiffy Lube will result in stains on the driveway, going to VW means it will stay dry.The interior is showing age. It requires 92 Octane fuel The Good - It is very reliable. I would not hesitate to get in it and drive anywhere. The reason we are selling it is because I just got a company car for work, and we decided to sell the Passat as it now does not get regular use.The V6 engine runs very strong, No smoke or leaks (other than when a poorly fitting oil filter is installed)Timing belt, tensioner, and water pump replaced at 105,000 milesThe all wheel drive engages as it is designed to, and you only know it is working on those days when everybody else is stuck in snow and we are still on the road.It has an after-market stereo system. It was in the car when we bought it, and it has a USB port to connect an iPod or smart-phone.Did I mention it is a 15 year old car? I tried to take good pictures showing the major issues, as they are, but the best approach is to come by and inspect the vehicle in person before you bid. That way there are no surprises. The vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no guarantee or warrantee stated or implied. I will attempt to answer any questions as promptly as possible. I will provide reasonable assistance with shipping and pickup. $300 deposit on Paypal is required within 48 Hours, and the balance paid at pick-up. Pick-up within 7 days. I have clear title in hand. Bid with confidence. If the vehicle is not as described when you come to pick up, I will refund your deposit (less eBay fees) and we will part friends.
