This car was my baby. Purchased for me by my wife. We have had years of enjoyment with this fun and powerful Ultimate Driving Machine. We have had the car for about four years. Now the bad news!!!! The car was perfect until my mechanic while test driving the car after some routine service hit a shovel and construction debris on the road that bounced out of the back of a pickup truck. The shovel damaged the hood and cracked the windshield. We put a new hood on the car and had a new windshield installed. On the way to the paint shop my painter said that the car started running rough and then shut down. We had it towed to the paint shop and had the hood finished. The car was then delivered to the mechanic to have the non start issue resolved. He checked compression, fuel injection and ignition. All systems were in great shape. My mechanic who has all of the latest BMW factory scanners was puzzled because the scanners showed no code. He changed the spark plugs and still nothing. He then cleaned the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel thinking that the fuel might be bad. Still nothing. At that point he checked the oil level and found the issue. The damage to the car caused by hitting the shovel had caused damage to the oil system. My car ran low on oil and damaged the main bearings. He has informed me that the main bearings need to be replaced and perhaps the crankshaft my need machining. I am not going to repair the car so my loss is your gain. If you are a BMW mechanic this is a great opportunity for you to repair and enjoy. This was the fastest SUV in the world in 2004. This car has every option. Heated seats, leather sport seats, cold weather package, sport package, panoramic sun roof, navigation, CD changer. The body is perfect and the paint is like new. One new front air strut installed last year and an almost new strut in a box in the back of the car. Rear tires have 85% tread left. Front tires about 45%. Alloy wheels in great shape. Dashboard and wood trim are in good shape. Some very small cracks in the wood trim in a couple of places.
