Vehicle Detail
1988 BMW 325is E30 - Fly In, Drive it Home! Link to over 100 Photos and Vids: See bottom of description. You are viewing 1988 BMW E30 with the desirable 325is sport package. With the "is" package, owners get a limited-slip rear differential with a 3.73 gear ratio, a rarer-option M-Technic steering wheel, and a trunk lid spoiler standard. This car has the infamous M20 motor, Getrag 260 5-Speed transmission, and is painted in Lachssilber-Metallic. This car has spent the majority of its life in rural Northern Colorado. Currently, the 325is is titled in my name, with a clear, open title. The car has many highway miles under its belt, as it is from a rural area, but is in good physical condition for the same reason. During my period of ownership with this car, I've completed a mechanical overhaul that included: -Valve Adjustment, New Valve Cover Gasket, New Oil Pan Gasket (Hondabond RTV), New 20W-50 Oil and Filter, New Spark Plugs, New Driveshaft Flex Disc, New Driveshaft Support-Bearing, Shifter Assembly Rebuilt with New Bushings/Fittings, New Various Hoses (PCV Hose, Intake Boot), and New Motor Mounts -**All of the above work was completed in July 2015 with OEM or Febi (Bilstein) parts, several pictures attached via link -Car also has an aftermarket radiator that was installed in 2012 along with a new water pump and hoses. The previous owner also installed new control arms on both driver and passenger sides. KYB Gas shocks (OEM Replacement) were installed in 2012 as well. Car received four new tires in addition to the above that are still in good condition. This car, in its current mechanical state, is ready to be driven anywhere. It does not leak a drop of any fluid and has been driven regularly since the maintenance in July to ensure all systems are running well. This car does not overheat or show any signs of issue. Tires are balanced, no vibration, except a small one around 80 mph. Please see the videos posted to view a warm start of the car, a clip of the car idling and revving, in addition to a on-road videoclip. This is a great candidate to "fly and buy" if you are considering purchasing from out-of-state; it is totally ready for a distance drive and needs nothing. I've been driving this vehicle two days/week and haven't had any issues. Doesn't leak a drop of any fluid. As the car is nearly 30 years old, it does have its quirks. Here is all you need to know: -Electronics all work, with the exception of the lighting of the heating/ac knobs and buttons. The computer in the center console also does not light up at night. The driver's side fog light works, the passenger does not. Both are cracked as this car has seen a lot of highway use. The locks, windows, electronic sunroof, instrument cluster, tail lights, turn signals, license plate lights, interior entry/exit lights all work. The low beams are both cracked due to lots of highway driving, although they both work. High beams work fine. Driver's side map light on the mirror works; passenger does not. "Check panel" by sunroof works fine, the washer fluid (sometimes) blips red to indicate it is low, although it is not. Oil inspection light reads that it is ready for a change, although the oil was just changed and I do not have the tool to reset the oil life light. The odometer stopped working at 243,095 miles, although I believe the car has closer to 245K miles. The dashboard does have two cracks directly above the cluster, but is clean everywhere else. Every once in awhile, the car will idle a few rpm lower than it normally does and the "check engine" light turns on. The car self corrects after a couple deliberate revs, the idle goes back to normal within a few seconds, and all is well. Not sure what the issue is, but this happens every once in awhile. The pictures and videos I took for the sale of this car don't illustrate this happening, because it didn't. The A/C compressor turns on, although the fan on the condenser does not activate. Hopefully that's an easy fix, as the system holds pressure and runs. The radio does work, although the reception is poor as the automatic antenna does not work. -Body: Car has never been in an accident, but was repainted/reupholstered in 2011, according to the previous owner. Leather interior was done in the factory grey color; the exterior was refinished in its original Lachssilber-Metallic paint. I plasti-dipped the bumper trim on the front and rear of the car, in addition to the rocker panels as the factory weatherspray had worn away. The car has a quarter-sized bit of surface rust by the rocker panel and lower wheel arch on the passenger side, some of which was covered with plasti-dip. No other rust on the car exists. The previous owner also had a 3M clear bra installed to ward off all of the rocks from frequent highway use (some wrinkles around fender curves). Nonetheless, you'll notice several small rock chips on the front of the car. There is a lip beneath the front valence (beneath the bumper) that is missing, although the retaining clips are still attached. It appears it fell off with the previous owner, as the valence is slightly bent in the middle (see photo). Both BMW roundels are sun faded, but rumor has it that dealerships are replacing those for free under a lifetime warranty program that I haven't checked out yet. The exhaust is still a stock setup, with exception of a generic, single outlet muffler from Meineke that was installed by the previous owner in 2012. In the photos, you'll notice that the car does have minor scuffs here and there, particularly on the driver's side door and corners of the rear quarter panels. Just a product of being in the cluttered garage of the previous owner, unfortunately. The hood does have two small areas of indentation, which can be see in some photos in the right light. The gas tank lid does have a small blemish less than the size of a dime (see photo in link). The windshield is not cracked, but has a lot of microscopic rock chips from highway driving. There are two larger chips, but they have not formed into cracks. ******I've tried my best to describe this vehicle and all characteristics to the best of my ability without hiding any known defects. This car is being sold as is, with no warranty implied. Sale is final upon winning auction. Please reach out to me with any questions and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Please message me for a link to 100 pictures of the car, which also includes videos of the car running through gears, accelerating, and running. I also tried to demonstrate a cold start, warm start, and idle for your info. eBay won't allow me to post the link within this item description, so I'll have to message it to you. It is a google photos album I can share with you. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you are considering buying the car, please have a look at the photo album.
