Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1995 C36 AMG. These are historically significant cars for Mercedes fans. This was the first AMG model available at a Mercedes dealership, previous to the C36 a customer would buy a Mercedes and send it to AMG to be transformed. Mercedes only sold about 500 of these cars in the US. They are hard to find, unique, and still relatively quick for a 20 year old 4 door luxury car. I am the 3rd owner of the car, the car was originally owned by the GM of a Mercedes dealer in Ohio, he leased it for his wife. At the end of the lease they liked it and he purchased it. The car was sold to a man in North Carolina in 2003 who owned it until 2009 when I purchased it. My wife and I are about to move and do not have space for this car so I am selling it. The car is not currently registered or insured. I have a clean South Carolina title. Car has 153,872 miles on it. I do not drive it so mileage will not increase. I start it up weekly and take it around the block but it is not driven more than a few miles a week. Battery kept on a tender. This car was my daily driver for about 30,000 miles worth of driving and was very reliable and fun during that time. I have always fixed anything that was wrong with the car but it has a few cosmetic issues that have developed since it was taken out of a garage and parked outside 2 years ago. These issues will be noted below and documented in photos. Vehicle has a service history that dates to 55,000 miles and 2003. This is over 100,000 miles and 12 years worth of service history. It is in a binder almost 2 inches thick. The car has always been very well taken care of, oil changes regularly, all scheduled service done. Mechanically this car is very good and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. The Good: -Car has a clean title -Fairly low mileage for the year -Engine runs very well, transmission does not slip, shifts good -Interior is in very good shape, no cracks in the wood panels and no tears in the seats -Black leather interior -Sunroof -Power windows, power door locks, power heated seats, power heated mirrors. All work correctly -Digital climate control -AM/FM radio, 6 disc CD changer in the trunk, cassette player so you can listen to Hall and Oates tapes -Engine wiring harness has been replaced -4 new Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires mounted and balanced 13,000 miles ago -All lights and turn signals work -Full size spare and original tool kit -All original stickers still intact, all owners manuals, well documented service history The Bad: -The paint on the hood has developed some haze in the center and a few spots where it appears the clear coat is coming off on the passenger side. It still waxes up good and looks good from a distance but if you get right up on the car it is noticeable. See pictures. -The headliner is coming down. It is worst in the rear seat area but sags throughout the entire car. I have tried the spray in glue but didn't have much luck. This is a common thing on these cars when driven in the south, I had a W124 that did the same thing. If I was to keep the car I'd have it fixed but would rather just sell it as is. -The plastic around the radio antenna is cracked, sometimes this binds up the antenna from extending and will cause the radio to not get reception. -Some discoloration on the sun visors from people's fingers over the years. -Some discoloration on the carpet in the trunk The Modified: -Car has been lowered on H&R springs and Bilstein shocks with new Mercedes spring bushings. Work was done 13,000 miles ago along with the 4 new tires and a 4 wheel alignment. Car handles well and is fun to drive. It is not "stanced" or "slammed" just mildly lowered. -Factory muffler has been replaced with a single chamber muffler, stock tips, and resonator deleted. It is not too loud, but sounds good under full throttle. Doesn't drone too badly when cruising, I have driven this car 7 hours from SC to FL with this exhaust. -KN drop in filter All in all this is a good example of an early AMG. I think I am asking a fair price for it considering the few issues it has. These cars are notorious for the biodegradable engine wiring harness degrading and causing multiple electrical issues. Previous owner had it completely replaced with the updated harness. They are also known for head gasket issues, this car has not had the head gasket replaced but it does not run hot or use any coolant. I have tried to include as much information and be completely honest about this car in my description and pictures. Nobody is perfect and I may have missed something. Buyer is responsible for transport of this vehicle. I would not hesitate to drive it across the country, but you will need to arrange a tag and insurance.
