Vehicle Detail
Folks, I sheepishly admit I've reached a point where I've lost the energy and motivation to finish this project. I'd love to see this beauty find a new home. For the person looking to finish an original '49 Ford, I believe this car is a superb candidate. I've taken care to ensure the integrity of the body and interior and did only the work necessary to get it running -- and running safely. I suspect you'll appreciate the opportunity to keep this car as Henry Ford intended, or if you're so inclined, this blank canvas offers you a chance to bring your vision to reality. I've recently run the car out on the four-lane highway and I'm pleased to say she's a real cruiser. She rides smoothly, steers smoothly as you expect, and the three-speed overdrive and the freshly rebuilt flathead offers plenty of power and speed. The other particulars of this '49 are: - Less than 100 miles on a freshly rebuilt Flathead - New gas tank, fuel lines, and fuel pump - New belts and hoses - The radiator has been flushed at a local radiator shop - The braking system has a new master cylinder, new brake lines, and new drums and shoes - The electrical system remains the original 6-volt system - Set of four new Goodyear P205/75R15 tires - New driver's side exhaust manifold (see picture) - New dual exhaust (see pictures) - New rear shocks - I've also included an ignition switch and bezel from a '49 Ford as the currently installed ignition switch is not a real '49 switch - I've included extra chrome trim and an extra chrome trunk lid handle As for the headlights, only one headlight works at this time; the turn signals and brake lights are not operable at this time. A basic visual inspection of the existing wiring under the dash and hood shows nothing beyond the ordinary. Again, I'd tackle the lights myself if time and interest would permit, but alas, it's time for another enthusiast to finish this project. The car has a good Minnesota title. The winning bidder must submit $500 at the conclusion of the auction. The remaining funds are payable in cash prior to taking possession of the vehicle. Winning bidder must provide own transportation and I request that the winning bidder take possession within two weeks of the conclusion of the auction. I will provide address details to winning bidder when appropriate. Finally, I'd like to thank my son for his photography work and his editorial skills. He'd be the first to admit he's not much of a mechanic, but he has a pretty steady hand with a camera and he's been known to turn a phrase when needed. If the pictures tell a good story and reveal this car's character, it's due in part to his skills as a photographer. Thanks for taking an interest in this car and happy bidding to all interested in finishing this project.
