Vehicle Detail

For sale, 2000 Chevy Prizm with 118k miles. Vehicle is in overall good shape and has been a reliable commuter vehicle for years. The interior shows some wear (a couple of coffee stains, a few small holes in the upholstery) but is solid (no rips or tears, no mold or water damage). I recently replaced the dash bulbs and inside driver door handle. The radio sounds good, but the CD player gets spastic when it's too warm. Power locks all work. Brand new windshield installed this spring. The exterior is the similar - a few dings and scuffs, some pitting on the hood that will need a touch-up before it rusts, but all panels are intact and solid. There is a medium-sized rust hole below the rear passenger door (see photo), but this is the only significant exterior damage. The tires have 10-15k on them and have plenty of tread, front and back. All lights are working, plastic is uncracked, no front or rear bumper damage at all. No accidents, not even a gentle bump in traffic. The engine runs strong, would be even better if the exhaust were fixed, but the transmission doesn't slip and the handling is loose but not sloppy. Like all Prizms/Corollas from this era, it's leaking oil at a decent clip. This can be remedied by replacing the valve cover gasket, and I have the part on hand, but I haven't had a chance to replace it myself (it's an easy job). Once that's done, the engine will probably still burn oil (that's what these engines do, I guess), but it can run forever like that as long as you keep it topped off. The brakes and rotors were done maybe 25k miles ago and still feel good, although you can see a touch of surface rust in the photos as I haven't been driving the car regularly since June. The check engine light is on, due to a bad O2 sensor and (probably) a bad catalytic converter. You can hear a rattle when driving over bumpy roads, which I'm pretty sure is the catalytic converter, but that's just my best guess. The AC stopped working recently - I don't know what has failed or how big a job it is, since I'm a windows-down kind of guy. MA inspection sticker valid through May 2016 (passed with the check engine light on, as it no longer needs an emissions test in MA). Title is in hand and clear. I'm not much of a car guy, but if you have any specific questions hit me up and I'll do my best to answer them. I've tried to give an honest & clear assessment of the vehicle here, but this is a car with 100k+ miles, so I make no assurances about what work it might need in the near or immediate future. Bidders are welcome to look at and test drive the car in Everett, MA pretty much any time with a little notice.
