It has a numbers matching, freshly rebuilt, 403 motor and freshly rebuilt, numbers matching TH350 transmission. The interior is all new - vinyl horseshoe seats, rear deck, carpet and headliner, dash recovered, gold dash bezel, gold steering wheel, restored console and shifter. It looks great and it looks just like the original Bandit car. You could get in the car and not believe its 38 years old. The engine is the very same strong running 6.6 litre the car came with, rebuilt with oversized pistons, upgraded cam and lifters, ported heads. It puts out close to 300 hp and it feels like it! The transmission is also the same one fitted to the car in April, 1977 and it too has been professionally rebuilt. The car has high gears (2.56) and positraction. With the beefed up motor and the true dual exhaust (no catalytics), it really accelerates, even off the line. The bonus is that you can go long distances on the highway and the motor is barely above idle (well, its around 2300 RPM), but compared to 3200 RPM with 3.42 gears, mileage will be fantastic and engine wear much reduced. And if you need to accelerate while at highway speed, not going to be a problem! Just picture how the car in the movie moved, that's this car! It has real Hurst Hatch T-Tops. They leak at the windows like they all do, but not in the middle of the roof. I always put a towel in the window to soak up the water instead of letting it go into the car, but it really isn't that much. But these are Hurst Hatches, way more desirable than Fisher T-Tops, even with their problems. These ARE the T-Tops to have in a Bandit car. The windshield is new, all weatherstripping for the doors, windows and T-Tops have been replaced, the wipers and washers work perfectly. All the dash lights and headlights work fine. The lighter works, even the clock in the tachometer works perfectly! The radio is an aftermarket digital unit with a CD player and an auxiliary input for your phone. The rear deck has 2 new 3-way speakers. The steering wheel has tilt and the horn works. The brakes have been rebuilt or replaced all around, stock discs in front, drums in the back. The car stops like new. A brand new A/C system was installed, using the Classic Air company's compressor, hoses and accumulator. It's R134 and ICE COLD. It blows really well since the blower motor was replaced with a new one. The tires are 225/15's just like original. The wheels are refurbished GM Snowflakes, just like the movie car. The lug nuts and center caps are new. The paint is easily an 8 or 9, maybe even higher, just being conservative. It really shows well, as you can see from the pics. The decals are perfect and match the movie car exactly. The trunk has been relined with the correct herringbone liner, the spare is the original full size unit and the jack is located in its correct location on the rack above the tire. All this car needs is a new owner. It's perfect for long drives, take it on the Bandit Run! You'll be passing those guys with the low gears at every gas station.
