Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on an absolutely beautiful and original E34 BMW 5 series. I will try to give an exhaustive description of the car to cut down on questions. Here goes: Who am I? I am a doctor in Santa Barbara California and a longstanding BMW enthusiast and BMW CCA member. I personally drive an E39 M5, my wife drives an E39 528i, and we bought this car for my son Jesse. When he turned 21 years old, I looked high and low to find him a mint condition inline 6 cylinder E34 because these cars are virtually bullet proof and honestly, not too fast. We looked for over 14 months nationally until we finally found this car in our own backyard!! This was a one owner car from SB California, owned by a pilot. Actually, it was owned by the pilot who flew Nixon around in Airforce One. The guy was as meticulous as I am with cars, and as such, I bought it on the spot. We took it to the BMW dealer to have it gone through, and they just laughed. The service advisor said, "oh that's Jim's car…it needs nothing." His exact comment was "that guy is more anal than you are with his cars." For posterity, we had all the fluids changed, and that was quite honestly not even necessary. Why are you selling? My son just got into Georgetown law school, which was totally unexpected--honestly we didn't think he was that smart. We always thought he would go to a California school, but he got in and off he will go next month. He does not want to take a car with him, and we don't want it to just sit--not good for the seals. Does it need anything mechanically? Absolutely not--it runs exactly like it did in 1994 when it rolled off the showroom floor at the BMW dealer in Santa Barbara. It does not leak one drop of anything and runs like a swiss watch. Does the AC/Heat work? yes Does it have heated seats? no--this is Southern California. How are the tires? Brand new matching Michelins that were put on 6 months ago. They have 500 miles on them. Any cracks in the glass? Not one and all original BMW glass. Is there anything not OEM on the car? No we only use BMW parts. We were going to put M parallel wheels on it, but we decided not to because the car is so original and unmolested. Does it need anything? The back passenger window is inoperable 50% of the time. Our mechanic said it is likely a fuse, but we haven't gotten around to looking at it. The driver door panel is loose and needs to be re-epoxy glued by an interior shop. All other panels are perfect. The front and back roundels are original and need to be replaced. Other than that, it needs absolutely nothing. How are the seats? No rips or tears anywhere. The dove gray leather is soft and supple, but has some wear marks and dirt that I never got around to cleaning for him. Griots leather cleaner and a steamer will make them look brand new. How is headliner? No sagging at all. Perfectly tight everywhere. Will it make a trip from CA to Maine? yes --it was essentially made for the hwy. Well that's all I can think of. It is essentially one of the nicest low mileage E34's left. If you are a BMW enthusiasts you know this was one of the best 5 series ever made and it should run until 300k miles. The money it will bring is not as important as it going to another enthusiast. We are selling her at NO RESERVE!!! Final bid owns her in 7 days. Good and happy bidding.
