Vehicle Detail

This rare vintage Mercedes 220S sedan is extremely original and the body is very solid and straight. The doors close and latch with a nice solid "thud". It appears to have been repainted in its original color many years ago and it spent the last 30+ years parked in a sealed garage with a concrete floor. All glass and bright trim is intact, as well as all gauges, dash trim and knobs. It still has all three original keys! The floors appear solid although there is evidence of some rust underneath the car and a couple of holes in the trunk floor, but nothing structural from what I can tell. The right rear shock broke and the suspension arm came off of the frame when the car was pulled thru the mud during loading on a trailer for transport so it is going to require some undercarriage repairs. The exhaust pipe also came detached and was bent up in front of the muffler. The original red (leather?) interior is intact and complete with only a couple of noticeable seam splits. The engine appears complete except the air cleaner is missing. It has the original straight 6 engine with dual carbs and manual transmission. Since it has not run in many years its mechanical condition is unknown but I assume it will require a complete mechanical restoration. This vehicle belonged to an elderly woman and it was obviously taken care of. I purchased the car from her estate with a good title with the intention of restoring it, but my situation has changed and I must let it go. The car comes with a clear title. Delivery may be possible within a reasonable distance for an agreed upon fee, otherwise buyer is responsible for arranging shipment. In summary, this car is quite solid, complete, and worthy of a complete restoration. My low reserve is set at what I paid for the car. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is available locally. Please ask questions before bidding and I will answer quickly and honestly. Thanks! On Jun-30-15 at 18:29:28 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE! We installed a battery in the car today, turned the key, hit the starter button...and the engine turned over quickly and smoothly! Also the headlights, heater fan, choke light, and some other electrical items appear to be operational. It shouldn't take much to get her running once the fuel and ignition systems are checked out. Also, due to the number of inquiries received regarding what it would take to end the auction early, I have added a "BUY IT NOW" option. This figure is well above my reserve, but is offered in case someone out there would like to avoid the competitive bidding process and be assured of owning this vehicle without the hassle. Thanks! On Jul-02-15 at 17:17:16 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve has been met and the BUY IT NOW option is no longer available per eBay policy. The car will be sold to the highest bidder! Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in this classic and good luck!
