1969 Opel GT Coupe NEW LOWER RESERVE !!! BID TO WIN PLEASE BID ONLY IF YOU ARE REAL and DONT HAVE TO ASK MOMMY OR YOUR WIFE - I had to end it early last time because of idiots who dont understand really how ebay works. IF you have never viewed one of our auctions before, be prepared to see an auction the way they where meant to be seen long distance !! Sure the girls are a nice touch, but we really do show viewers almost every area of the car we can think of. We pull off the rims, jack it up and try to get pics in areas most other sellers dont even bother trying. (watch us in the near future when we get our borescope !! and we start adding pics of inside the cylinders and gas tanks !!) Barn find that has been taken our of storage in OK and on its way back to being a road worthy vehicle for someone who really loves these cars . Even the tires on the car are old bias ply from the 80s. Titled as a 1969 Opel GT . not many left on the road thats for sure. But still have a great following and lots of places to buy repop parts for it. Chances are if you buy it and take it to the next cruise night, you probably wont see another one around the same event ! Dare to be different ! Brief History on the car: spent most of its life in OK and the past 15 yrs in a garage in OK. It was recently brought to Tucson and got running again . Some of the work done is: NEW: fuel lines, electric fuel pump, vacuum lines, fuel filter, and the Weber carb was rebuilt. (although the car still idles higher then it should, so not sure if its a vacuum leak or what.) The car has a header on it too which makes the car louder then you may be use to, and there is a gasket leak where the header bolts to the head under the hood which is loud. Brakes: include new rear wheel cylinders, shoes and hardware kits, ALSO both front calipers rebuilt and brake master too in the last yr. Gas tank was cleaned and resealed about 6m ago Once all this got done, the car was driven on its maiden voyage around the block a few times and it did okay for what it was. Odometer shows 18xxxx miles on it, but chances are is has rolled over at least once., BUT KEEP in mind, this car has been in a garage for many yrs off and on, so maybe it is original miles. Its not been on the road since the 90s. 1 of the HOTTEST Import CARS BEING RESTORED when you can find one ! DRIVETRAIN: under the hood is the original the best I can tell so if you decide to restore it back to stock, you are good to go, although some people are doing engine swaps in these cars too during the restoration. The clutch, trans and rearend all seem okay too for their age. The Weber and header on these motors added some decent hp to the stock set up making them more fun to drive then avg and still keeping an almost stock appearance. Motor has a little clatter under the valve cover, so not sure if the valves are adjustable but just thought Id mention it. Maybe its just because its ideling at 1800 rpms. INTERIOR: as you can see in the pics below, the interior is pretty worn and beat up. Under the carpet the floors are actually pretty solid, esp in the rear. Most of the vinyl etc is worn and needs replacing. The factory gauges all seem intact and I think most of them work still. Shifter feels good and rest of the dash buttons etc are in pretty good shape. Except the old 80s radio haha. Not sure if they had a back seat, but if so this one is missing. Not sure what else I can say, but check out all the pics and lmk if you have any questions. Lever for the headlights works but very stiff and tight. Interior dash lights work well and actually look great at night ! Doors open and close well and seem to align up well, meaning the hinges are in good shape too. Exterior: originally the car was Aztec Gold, while at sometime back in the 80s the car was repainted a slightly different shade of Gold. Since then the car got a few bumps and dents. Also, rust.. you will see in the pics rust around some of the rear wheels, rear 1/4s, part of the lower rockers and the large pan under the front battery area got the worst of it. Some other key areas didnt get any rust luckily. So expect to have to get some patch panels done around the car for a proper restoration. The paint in areas is so baked, its down to the primer and there is alot of surface rust as well on the car, but its really not as bad as you may think, so please Check out ALL the pics well, in and around and UNDER the car so you can see for yourself where its located etc. Front windshield is cracked, yes. IF you win the car and want it fixed before shipping out, lmk and Ill see what sort of deal I can get for you. I have some good connections on getting glass done locally. Some of the outside lights work and some dont. Obviously this car has the look of a shrunken down Corvette, its no secret. And the factory Rally rims with caps and beauty rings help pull off the look even more. The rear taillight panel though, actually looks more like a Ford Daytona Coupe from the mid 60s, and Im pretty sure that was no coincidence either. Look at the rear of a Daytona Coupe, its pretty sexy. SUSPENSION: the suspension looks mostly original thus far, its going to need some restoration here Im sure, but its a good starting platform. Driving it around the block, it feels pretty solid and good for a car this old, but handles like you may expect too, and thats on OLD OLD skinny bias ply tires. I can imagine how good this car would handle with a nice set of 205-50-15s and some 7 or 8" rims to match. I noticed the rear suspension has a Panard bar under it. Not sure if its factory or not, but they do help with the handling side of the cars DNA. I can see this car at a local SCCA event, how cool that would be to run against some modern stuff. Not sure if any of the bushings under the car need replacing, but Id guess some are going to need to be done during its restoration process. I guess you could even go up to some 17" wheels and tires too for a more modern look and feel, just depends on what your plans are for the car. Even as aged as it is, the car still handles great driving it around the parking lot. Its like a little go kart ! Handles great, like these cars where meant too. Tires are dry and old. This car is 90% rust free Arizona car Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll bar on the right side, there is more info AFTER the pics etc. There are over 100 large pics. Hope you like the detailed pics - Not many Opel GTs are still on the road, but they do have a huge following worldwide. There you have it, probably The BEST represented Opels on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car like this to pop up for sale. And even a car with some rust on it like ours, its far from a rust bucket and most of what all it needs are basic panel patches and repairs. None of the serious areas like the frame etc look beat up by rust. OK has rust, but not like some cities. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Honestly, I think more sellers should post pics like we do but buyer beware if they dont. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. Or fly in and drive it home if you choose. Clear TITLE IN HAND I wont end the auction early !! CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 12 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. Can help with shipping outside the USA too if you need help. But keep in mind, the car cant ship until you get your title from us in hand. This car, you can see clearly what to expect with no surprises and our Feedback speaks for itself ! EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !! Car will obviously ship as an INOP. IF you need a shipping quote, just email us with your city/state and Ill find out our best quote for you !! No problem helping it to the docks if you are shipping overseas . If there is a winner, please email me when the auction ends and say Hi and we can take it from there. Bank Wires need to be prompt if you are out of the country because they always seem to take longer then expected. On Jun-10-15 at 01:53:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Half way down the description youll see the line "This car is 90% rust free Arizona car" Please IGNORE THAT LINE, it was from a previous auction we didlast month and we forgot to take that line out for this car. Obviously this is not an AZ car , but it did come from Oklahoma where it was for many yrs. thanks Original keys come with the car and yes both windows roll up and down okay too. Its too bad its not a hatch style car.
