Up for sale is a very rare optioned 1972 Lemans Sport Endura that has been one family owned. This car was special ordered by my friend's brother in law in December of 1971. It took 7 weeks for it to be delivered to the dealer. Purchased new in El Paso it eventually made it's way to Phoenix where it spent the majority of it's life. The original owner sold the car after a few years to his brother. My good friend's wife is the sister of the original owner. The car has some very rare options including the #602 Endura GTO nose and the #734 Sport option. The car had the water pump go out in 2003 and was disassembled for repair. Appearently they got side tracked and never completed the repair. So, it sat in their backyard for about 10 years. My friend was offered the car for a reasonable price and the car was shipped to California. Unfortunately, it's condition was not described accurately to my friend. He thought it just needed some light work. Needless to say, what the car needs is beyond my 70 year old friend. So, I finished the water pump job, serviced and tuned the car, installed 5 new tires, and checked all of the fluids. The car is really not in bad shape. In fact, it runs and drives quite well. This is really a easy restoration projects for somebody or you can drive it while you fix the cosmetics. ***CAR IS MATCHING NUMBERS AND COMES WITH PHS FULL DOCUMENTATION!!***I only included the first page of the PHS documentation so that I could put more images. The car has had some previous body work in the past. Not a lot, but some is evident. The car was originally silver, but was re-sprayed copper, and then light blue during it's life. The paint jobs were not terribly well done. So, masking was poor and prep. Good news is that paint want to come off down to the original silver. All of the sheetmetal is original and has never been unbolted. The engine, besides the water pump has never been apart and is original.. Has factory dual exhaust. At some point the original mufflers were replaced with glass packs.. Sounds very nice. The original GTO exhaust Chrome splitters are missing. Looks like they fell off at some point years ago. The chassis is absolutely clean and straight. Underside of body and chassis condition are far above average. The engine and drive seems strong and smooth and well cared for. Shocks look like new, although I didn't install them. Rare optional Variable Power steering and disc brakes. Console is GTO oem and special ordered. All in all, drives nice. The car is missing 3 center caps, one rear window trim piece, OEM radio, and a few small items. Missing headliner, but all parts there and dome light works. Roof is solid with surface rust only, except the LH "A" pillar top area. It has some rust trough and will need repair. The glass is good, but the windshield is cracked. has the deluxe Sport interior. The LH front fender and front bottom of the LH door will need some bodywork to straighten, but should be straight forward. Doors, hood and trunk open and close smooth, with no appreciative sagging or issues. I believe there is just a very small amount of rust starting in the RR quarter panel bottom edge behind the wheel well. Very minor, but worth mentioning. Rare, GTO Endura nose and parts in good condition. This car is optioned with the rare, factory side moulding package #494. Which means that the sheet metal has special pins attached at the factory at the bodyline, making this sheet metal very rare. The mouldings are in great shape. All lights, turn signals, high beams, brake lights, etc. are working well. All in all, a very rare optioned Lemans Sport with all the GTO fetures, but with the 350 Pontiac V* and Emblem delete.. Don't miss on a very rare opportunity to own this rapidly appreciating muscle car at a great price. You simply can't find these original like this anywhere. Only adult owned and never raced or abused... just in original, used condition. This special order car is really something special. This car has never been apart since the factory built it except for minor service.. Matching numbers and drives great. Beautiful underside and chassis with excellent chassis bushings, steering, diff., trans, etc.. MATCHING NUMBERS! Yes, it needs it's fare share of cosmetics, but nothing difficult. Drive as you fix, or full restoration.. you decide.. Either way, you won't find another one in this condition for this price. This is the driving restoration project you have dreamed of finding.. I removed the back seat and pulled the carpets loose to verify condition and they are rust free, clean, and still have the OEM silver paint. The original insulation is in tact and in great shape. The bottom of the body is also still silver! No appreciable grease or dirt. Even the transmission cross member is clean and black. It has never been cleaned or repainted.. Just original... No surface rust. The suspension is very nice and the bushings look excellent or better. There is no suspension sag. The car has the original springs and still sits proud and proper. Look close at the engine bay. You will find it to be in great shape. It has never been re-painted, detailed, or apart. It appears to have always been clean and dry. The car does not leak any fluids. This engine has never had a valve cover, intake manifold, head, etc. ever removed. The trans. is the original and has never been unbolted since `1972. It truly is a great car. I know it needs it's share of body and paint, uph, headliner, top, etc. But that is cosmetic. It has exceptionally good original weatherstripping... Still soft and pliable. Don't dismiss this as some beat up abused old car. It is far better than that...
