Vehicle Detail
This 1999 Ford Explorer has the well respected 5.0L v8 engine and AWD. I have had it for almost 6 years and used it for hauling dirt bikes, helping people move, and commuting on the bad weather winter days. I have too many vehicles so this one has been selected to move on. I have driven it several times on trips 3hr each way and would not be concerned to drive it anywhere. It does have some issues but the starting price is below kbb fair condition trade in price... so it is easily worth the money. The body has rust on the rear wheel arches and bottoms of doors and tailgate. The power locks do not operate the front 2 doors. The key does not turn the driver side lock tumbler (it has been that way since I bought it) so when I need to lock the truck I use the key pad to unlock the doors and then reach up from the rear driver side and open the driver door. Really quite simple, but most times I did not have the vehicle locked. The engine runs good but it has a small leak that I never bothered to fully identify. It drips a little bit onto a heat shield and burns off, so you can smell it outside on occasion of it has been idling for a while. You don't smell it while driving and over a 6 hr round trip it does not lower the oil level... as stated it is a small leak, but you can smell it so I'm certainly calling it out. The electronic compass display in the roof center console does not work. The rear wiper blade doesn't completely touch the rear window when it moves on its arc (I do not know why.) Things that just recently stopped working are the front power lock buttons are not locking the doors for some reason. They unlock but do not lock... however the tailgate power lock button works fine (except as previously noted the power locks do not function on the front doors.) Also the power mirror button only seems to move mirrors up down and left... right doesn't do anything. The electonic overhead compass is not lighting up. I took it for a drive today - the exhaust is getting a little loud and the ABS light came on. I turned the truck off and restarted it - drove for another 5 miles and the light did NOT come back on, so take that for what it's worth -- the brakes worked fine still. The rear driver side door does not open from the inside - it is like the child lock is turned on, but that is off. You can pull the handle to open the door but it won't open. The outside handle works fine, it is only the inside handle that is a problem. The front passenger side clipped a deer 3 years ago (going probably 20mph) and the fender is wavy/dented from that. The headlight bracket got cracked and it has had mending work done to it -- it's been working fine for me, but I need to call it out. Ok... now onto the good. The 5.0 v8 is a solid motor with a long Ford history. The AWD works great. Interior is in very good shape. This suv has served me well, and it should do the same for you. Features- AWD, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, am/fm/cassette/single cd, cloth seats, tow hitch, roof rack. This is an AS-IS used car sale. You are bidding to own this vehicle. This is very frustrating - 2 no contact / non-paying bidders causing me to re-list this again. Please don't bid if you will not complete the transaction. I reserve the right to cancel any low rating bidder that does not respond if I email them. Thank you
