Vehicle Detail
1960 A SPEC DAIMLER SP250 CONVERTIBLE SERIAL No. /ID No. (100317)Body No. 737-0377 Engine No. 89478Ordered on the 7th of April 1960 through the Daimler Corp. originally painted in Daimler Ivory.Only 08079 milesThis car was purchased by my father in 1970When my father brought the car home I was 12 years old and have great memories of him and me reassembling all the parts. The engine was in bushel baskets. We spent several months putting all of the original parts back together. At one point we realized the water pump was missing and had a friend traveling to Europe. That friend found the water pump in Europe and brought it back for us. Once we got the car back together we were excited about taking the car for the first test drive. It was a bright sunny beautiful day in Illinois and with the top down we took off. As we traveled down the back streets everything was running great. We decided to take it on the highway and open it up. At about 80 mph it was cruising great, until the bonnet latch released and flew up and I’ll never forget when it hit the top of the windshield it flexed and hit the top of my dad’s head. He almost blacked out. I had to grab the wheel and steer for him until he could get his senses back. Once he grabbed the wheel we pulled over and parked on the side of the road. We closed the bonnet, got back in the car, and laughed ourselves silly. We never expected that to happen. I remember him telling me don’t let your mother know about that. After that day he drove the car to work for about a month. Then parked it and never drove it again. Unfortunately my father had some psychological issues haunt him and he never had an interest in the car again. This car has been sitting in my father’s back yard since 1971. At one point about 15 years ago he decided to take the engine out of it and store the engine and transmission in his garage. That’s the last time he touched it.I am pretty sure all original parts are at my mother’s home.On Hagerty price guide report they claim a daily driver car in worst condition is worth $18000.00 as illustrated in the graph in the pictures.Have found several others on line for 20k to 24k in worse shape and a lot more miles.Have clear title in hand.My father recently passed and now the car is just sitting there with no one to bring it back to it's former glory. Please message me for further details or further questions. Winning bidder is responsible for towing it from the property. Payment can be made via cashiers check or money order.Actually had Jay Leno contact me about this car when I listed it because he is rebuilding one right now!
