Vehicle Detail
Here is an opportunity to bid on a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite with an original 61,000 miles. I drive it daily a half hour to work and a half hour from work on the interstate everyday and would not hesitate to take a highway trip right now. My dad bought this car new in April of 1992. He then died in August of 1992. My mother kept the car all these years and put a whopping 23,000 miles on it. She quit driving in the summer of 2009. That’s only 1350 miles per year. She asked me if I wanted it, and I didn’t have room for it, so I turned it down. (That was a mistake) So she gave it to my nephew who has absolutely no common sense, and no idea how to care of something nice. He drove it up to the time he went to prison. I had my sister contact him about it and he told her to sell it to me if I wanted it. When I got it (fall 2012), it had 39,000 miles. Below is a list of the good and then a list of the bad. THE GOOD….61,000 original miles. Car has been in the same family since new. I am the third owner. .Engine & transmission are perfect. It uses NO oil and has been serviced on a regular basis. It drives very well around town or on the highway..NO oil, fuel, or antifreeze leaks of any of kind..Tires are only about one and a half years old. It had the factory original tires on it when I got. .Wire wheel covers..Electric outside mirrors..Steering wheel touch controls for radio and climate controls. .Automatic headlight on/off working well..Dual lighted vanity mirrors. .Newer battery. About 2 years old. .Ice cold A/C due to the new compressor. Other automatic climate control items like heat, defrost vent, rear defrost, all work fine. Just set the temperature you like and it will do the rest. .Rear window defogger. .Fully tuned up about a year ago. New fan belt, spark plugs etc. .About a year and a half ago, new brake pads & shoes all the way around including rotors, calipers, drums, hoses and some steel lines. Anti lock brakes working as expected..No warning lights or check engine lights are lit..Air ride suspension performs flawlessly..All power windows, door locks, power seats work well..Cruise control works well..AM/FM Cassette player with equalizer. And an add on 8-CD changer in the trunk all working fine. The power antenna is stuck in the up position..Leather seats show some wear, but NO rips or tears..No body rust that I am aware of. This car spent many years in my mothers garage. It was rarely out in the weather. NOW THE BAD….Damaged right rear fender. It does not affect the performance of the car, it just looks bad..The body has various and assorted scratches. They are very hard to see in the pictures. None are down to the metal..The body has some hail damage, but certainly nothing as bad, as some I have seen. They are also hard to see in the pictures. .The headliner needs a new cloth glued to it. This foam backed cloth can be bought at most fabric stores..The intermittent portion of the windshield wiper no longer works. The other speeds are fine..Sometimes the dome lights don't come on when you open the driver side door. .The power trunk pull down has been disabled. It now opens and closes manually just fine..The windshield has a crack across the bottom which happened one icy morning when I was letting it run to defrost the ice. Missouri state inspection won’t pass it the way it is. (unless you know somebody). It has a rattle in the exhaust system on cold mornings. But it clears up in a couple blocks of normal driving..I live 5 minutes from St. Louis Lambert field. If you want to fly in and drive home, I will pick you up at the airport. .Please ask any and all questions before bidding, and if you bid please be prepared to follow through with the purchase. .It’s just a good old car that has had all the maintenance and repairs done in order to keep it as a reliable daily driver..Since I am retiring soon, I just don't need it any more.Sold as is, where is..NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
