Vehicle Detail

2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4X4 75,600 miles! One of the lowest mileage Cherokees you will find anywhere. I recently did a search of Cherokee XJ's(1981 to 2001) in the entire US using a popular vehicle search site. There are close to 700 currently for sale. Only 20 Cherokees had lower mileage than mine! THATS AMAZING!!! Out of 700, this ranked 21st for the lowest mileage! Please look at the full AutoCheck vehicle history report in this listing(click on the Vehicle History Report tab). Clean title, no accidents and verified mileage! This rated a 76, whereas the normal range for this vehicles is 33-59! Runs and drives fine...no issues. 4WD, 4.0 inline 6, power windows, power locks, a/c, roof rack, aftermarket Kenwook stereo system. Newer Firestone Destination A/T's....(cost over $550).... less than 15,000 miles on them. Original tread depth on these tires is 13/32, and these measure on average 10-11/32. 80-85% tread left. State inspection/state emissions completed 2 weeks ago. Wheel alignment was just done 5/21/15. The story behind this Jeep is that after looking for months for a great vehicle, I finally found this and purchased it for my son for his first vehicle. The previous owner told me it needed work, but didn't want to spend any more money on it to fix it, as he had just purchased a new suv. I had looked at a dozen Cherokees, and passed on all of them because of their problems... no maintenance, fluids leaking everywhere, rust holes everywhere, etc, etc. You name it... I have seen it. I am very picky when it comes to what I buy, and I know what is junk and what isn't. When I looked at this, I had to have it. Even though it needed work, I knew it was well taken care of. There were even some service records in the glovebox to verify. The body and paint are very good! No dents(only a small dings here or there)! And very little rust. The previous owner told me he had done regular oil changes(some records as proof). One invoice shows it was done at 56,000(when he first bought the Cherokee), along with the differential oil, then like he said, around every 3000 miles. Another invoice shows it was done at 66000 miles(previous visit), and 69000 miles(current visit), however there is a oil change sticker on the top of the windshield from Valvoline that shows its due again at 78,000. This shows with near 100% certainty that the oil was changed approx. every 3000 miles. 56000, 59000, 62000, 65000, 69000, 72000, 75000, and due again at 78000. That's peace of mind to me and should be for you too! The current oil in it has been run for over 500 miles, and it is still a nice clear brown color. The engine is in excellent condition. No contamination, no odd odors, etc. This thing runs awesome! P.S. - beware of those vehicles which have a new oil change with no run time on the new oil, sometimes this is done to hide problems... such as coolant in oil(cracked head, bad head gasket, etc). Front and rear differential fluid replaced in March 2013 at 56,000 miles(service records as proof) and most people never get these done even though they should). He had the front differential carrier bearings, races, pinion seal and axle seals replaced in July 2013. This was a $700 service, and another reason this thing has no leaks! New rear leaf springs last year(we all have seen Cherokees driving around with the squatted down rear due to tired leaf springs). Previous owner also put on new tires November, 2013 at 61000 miles - Firestone Destination A/T's, at a cost of over $550. I was very excited to find such a great vehicle for my son, And I quickly began fixing it up. I used only the best parts I could find, after all, it was for my son and I refuse to install cheap parts. A good example of this is the front hubs.... I could have purchased cheap ones online for $35 each, however I bought TIMKEN hubs for close to $100 each. Timken makes the BEST bearings you can buy. Nearly every part is not only a brand name part, but the highest quality available. I installed: GE Nighthawk sealed beam headlamps(much brighter than the stock headlights that came on it). New Dorman hood release cable. New Michelin wiper blades. New front Spicer axle shaft u-joints.(you have to pull the axle shafts from the axle to do this) New front Timken bearing/hub assemblies. Daystar front 1" leveling kit (Once the new leaf springs were installed, the back sat quite a bit higher than the front. So I installed the leveling kit, which makes the Jeep sit perfect...and it looks awesome!) Raybestos Advance Technology front brake rotors(I have used these on many vehicles and I feel these are the best available). Bosch QuietCast Premium front brake pads(again.. the BEST you can buy and they stop this Jeep amazingly well!). Fram oiled air filter(traps 100% more dirt than a regular filter). Daystar polyurethane tie rod boots. I checked all ball joints and tie rod joints for wear and movement...all are good and tight. Monroe Magnum steering damper. All new DP premium chrome lug nuts. Wagner ThermoQuiet rear brake shoes along with a new Raybestos Professional Grade hardware kit. New AC Delco rear drums. Replaced the front drive shaft with a 1 year old unit (still painted and perfectly balanced). This means the u-joints are also only 1 year old. Replaced the rear drive shaft with a rust free, perfectly balanced unit. I sprayed it with black epoxy paint, and installed 2 new Spicer u-joints. Both drive shafts are now good for the next 10-15 years. I rebuilt the transfer case(NP231) with new bearings and seals. (The Jeep was sitting in my garage for a few weeks and the only few drops of fluid underneath were from the transfer case. So I ordered a rebuild kit, pulled and split the cases, and installed the new bearings and seals. I also installed new guides on the shift fork. Once complete, the transfer case also received a fresh fill of ATF+4...required fluid by Chrysler. The transfer case was meticulously cleaned inside, and was carefully reassembled using Permatex Ultra Gray, and torqued to proper specs. I will post pics of the case and internals so you can see there is NO wear whatsoever on the 4wd components and gears inside the case. You can still see the tooling marks on the gears themselves from when they were originally made. This thing looks new internally and appears it will last forever! The work I have done would cost THOUSANDS of dollars to have a garage perform it. And the best part is I know it was done right, because I did the work. I have worked in a garage and have seen how some people work. Its hurry up and get the job done, and get the next job in. Not me... I take my time (ask my wife about this one... she is always complaining), do things 100% correct, and I am extremely meticulous about every aspect of the job I'm doing! Remember, I was fixing this thinking my son was going to be driving it for the next 10 years, not to sell to a stranger for profit like a car dealer. Negatives: Rear wiper doesn't work(haven't even looked at this issue yet). Small section of carpet on the passenger side floor was repaired... about 6 inches square(previous owner left a high intensity flashlight on and it melted the carpet). I will take pictures of the repair, which actually turned out fairly well. It can be seen in the picture of the front passenger area. Small area of surface rust on the left front fender(shown in picture 8) Center console rear bracket it broken. This allows the rear of the center console to move a slight amount. If this is an issue for you, you can get one from a junkyard for $$10-$20, or there is a seller right here on ebay who makes replacements from steel... which will last forever...for only $75...(link below) http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-Jeep-Cherokee-XJ-center-console-support-bracket-STEEL-MADE-IN-USA-/171790108798?hash=item27ff7d087e&vxp=mtr OK, so you may be asking... if I fixed everything that needed fixing and this turned out to be such a great Cherokee, then why am I selling it and not giving it to my son like I originally planned? Because he told me what he really wanted to do to it. Tear off this, drill holes in that, cut this, remove that, spray paint this, etc, etc! I said no way was he going to ruin such a nice vehicle. So, we came to an agreement that this would get sold and I will buy him a piece of junk Cherokee that he can do whatever he wants to it. He seemed happy about that. Kids are odd, aren't they? Anyway, feel free to ask any questions you want. I have nothing to hide. If you would like more pictures of something, let me know and I can take the pictures and send them to you. I have dozens more pictures available that I could not post. I was only allowed to post 24 pictures. I should be able to take pictures of nearly all the completed work if you would like to see those. I am not trying to sell this to make a fortune, however I do at least want to get back the money I put in to it. This auction will have a reserve set at the amount I need to break even. I have title in hand. I will not end the auction early for a sale. The highest bidder will be the winner. I have been buying and selling on ebay for MANY years without any issues, plus I am a Law Enforcement Officer, and I am definitely not here to rip anyone off. My biggest concern is someone trying to rip ME off! I have never sold a vehicle here on ebay, so I do have some concerns. That being said... CASH AS PAYMENT! A certified bank check may be accepted, but only after I verify it is legitimate and funds are available, and check is cashed. Its easier to just go to the bank and take the money out for payment. Title will not be transferred until I have cash in hand, or cash the certified check! A $500 down payment by PAYPAL is required within 24 hours to secure the purchase, or I reserve the right to sell it the next highest bidder. Good communication will be in both of our best interests here. On May-23-15 at 20:16:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note that in the picture of the engine compartment, the battery terminals appear to be covered in corrosion. This is not the case. After I removed, cleaned and retightened the battery terminals, I coated them with spray on white lithium grease. This is what you are seeing in the picture. This technique is used by many mechanics(including at the shop I worked at) to prevent corrosion. On May-24-15 at 04:33:38 PDT, seller added the following information: After spending some time to calculate everything I have spent, I lowered the reserve to the near exact amount I spent on this, not just the estimated amount. On May-26-15 at 16:17:45 PDT, seller added the following information: TO SEE A GROUP OF LARGER PICTURES - CLICK ON THE CURRENT VEHICLE PICTURE SHOWN!
