Vehicle Detail

This 1984 Mercedes Benze 380 SL is a one family, two owner car that is being offered in as-is condition…  please read carefully.  This vehicle was purchased in Massachusetts and never driven in the winter its whole life.  Over time my parents retired and moved to New Hampshire and the car was up there, garaged its whole life.  I inherited the car in 2008 and the car had some issues emerging from improper winter storage and probably just some fuel system issues that needed addressing for the age of the car and the new fuels today that include Ethanol that was not in fuel back in 1984.   The issue that I had with the car that I tried to tackle through 2011 was what seemed like fuel system clogging.  The car always started immediately, ran well the whole time I have known it since 1984.  However when I was driving it from New Hampshire to Kentucky I could feel a slight sputter at 70 mph.  Over time that became worse and the car would get up to 60 mph and then stall out cold.  Once the car came to a stop you could crank it, it would start immediately and run smoothly and repeat that again.  I did not want to push the car and had repairs attempted to alleviate the issue- new fuel pump and fuel filter.  Then in 2010 my left hip went bad and it became very difficult to get in and out of the car for me and the project went on the back burner.  Before my hip deteriorated I had researched what could be going wrong in the fuel delivery system and found that the vehicle had two or three sub assemblies between the gas tank and the solid metal line that goes up the rocker- I have purchased at least some of those, aftermarket, Bosch parts that are included.   I don’t think the car will start right now- the last time I moved it was in 2012, and it has been outdoors since then- the only time it’s been outdoors in its life.  I think that the fuel tank needs to be cleaned out and all components with rubber in them in the fuel system replaced.  The vehicle always ran well and the only issues that came up were with the air conditioning system that started to not work around 2005.  The paint, rims, everything is original.  The paint could use some compounding to bring the shine back.  I have waxed this vehicle many times in my life and was in charge of detailing it.  Since my hip problem I cannot bend over and tend to it like I used to.  This car needs to go to someone who will get it back on the road- I have come to realize I am not that person.   OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS: The original top has a tear in it.  If you wanted to use this with rag top UP then you should plan on patching or replacing the top- it just got dry over the years and tore about 2006.   Roof tools are included and in the glove box Original stereo works, cassette tape, but sound quality not impressive- they stock stereos in these 380 SL’s were just not that great. The leather upholstery is all original but shows some fading of color Carpets all original, foot mats all original There are some dirt dauber nests here and there on the car CLEAN TITLE is in hand, in my name, waiting to transfer. CASH PAYMENT due within 7 days of auction end, I need to get this vehicle moved out of here and do not want a lingering transaction with this car, at this price. On May-23-15 at 02:57:41 PDT, seller added the following information: The car has never been in an accident and what you see is 100% original paint and body panels.  The car was never driven in winters ever.  If there is any body rust it is a tiny spot or two way down low that I did not see when walking around the car.  There is no rust or rot to the frame.  Please see new photos of how the car looked when detailed in 2010-2011 when still garaged and also the fuel system parts that are included in the sale.
