PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND MESSAGE ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING This car is in Rochester, NY. Please message me if you want any more information and I will do my best to answer any questions or if you need more pics. I am not a mechanic, this car has beens serviced by German auto enthusiast garages in town. Update; As of April 5th, I got on the ground and shot pics of the underside of the car and added the pics, as requested. All four General Altimax tires are new, less than 800 miles and four older tires with decent tread are included if you want them. This *was* a great car, fun to drive, gets around great in the snow with good tires. I love older cars and this Jetta was my only car, driven daily and totally reliable for the last 7 years. I always planned to drive it till the end, which I thought was a few years away.It started up, without hesitation, every day this winter which was at least six weeks of 0-5 degree mornings. Last year at inspection time the shop estimated I could probably get few more years out of the frame. But I'm in an upstate NY town that has the budget to salt extensively, and loves to salt 24/7. This winter was bad and took a bigger toll on the frame than expected and it will not pass a legit NYS inspection. Even though the car looks great and feels solid, the frame has rust holes. I think I better repeat that because the pics make my Jetta look pretty good, and there is very little rust on the body. I can imagine the optimistic amongst us thinking "How bad could it be ??" The rust on the bottom ( frame) of the car is bad. I got two estimates to repair the fame so I could keep driving it. They are licensed reputable shops that have been round for decades (labor rate $100/ hr +) One estimate was 2.5K, the other was 3-4K and they both wanted a few weeks. So the time has come for me to give up this car.Because of the low mileage and the great 98 TDI engine this car is perfect for someone who can do this work or wants parts for a worthy project. The Jetta is running fine and legally on the road till the end of March when inspection is up. Sorry, but the roof rack pictured on the car is not included in this sale. Here are the good things about it Great TDI engine with 106,000 original miles, I have owned it the last 7 years.Battery, all four tires, rear muffler and shocks like new, replaced within the last two months.Old tires included if you want them, they have good tread but not enough for hills on ice/slush like we had this winter.Timing belt done at 77KEverything in the car works fine including ACCEL light not on, nor any other dash warning lightsGlow plugs replaced this fallHas sunroof, works fine, does not leak, never hasHas never been run on SVO/WVOTitle in hand ...the bad;The only bad is the frame, it has holes, they are bad And the OK.... things I have been living with but was planning to do or have done this summer;Both rear window regulators not working (windows are shimmed to keep in place)Stick shift boot leatherette should be replaced (I have it) since it is cracked in a few spots Rear window defrost not functioning because most grid lines are damaged, electronics fineMinor rust at expected places on body.Antenna is missing, radio works fine.Interior in OK condition, seats are not ripped but are worn, plastics pretty clean but not shiny And here are the things which are a bit oddRear exterior quarter panel held in place with small bolt, since the original clips are impossible to findVarious dings and dents to be expected in a car of this ageRear seat has been removed (I have it) because I use my car to carry stuff. Ok now for my short list of requests; please excuse the Captain Obvious repetitive tone here....just trying to avoid hassles.If you need to see this car to know if you want it ....message me and come look before you bid.In other words...do not bid on this car if you need to see it first to know if you want it !
