Vehicle Detail
1972 Ford "European built" Capri This is our 2nd one for ebay this month, and our LAST one. Low rust AZ CAR - DESERT SURVIVOR - Awesome factory classic European / American Gt coupe SUPER LOW RESERVE !!! Up for auction: Originally this Capri was a 2000 model 4 cyl car. Sometime in the last 8 yrs, the prev owner started to do a Ford V6 conversion. We have no idea the condition of the motor or rest of the drivetrain. The components where in good running order when the swap was started, but that was several yrs ago and we cant say exactly what shape they are in now. But the motors have always been covered by the hood, and chances are they are still usable once finished, but no promises. All we can say is finish the project some and try to fire it up and see what you have. The previous owner just lost interest in this project, he had 2 other Capris as well and concentrated more in the last few yrs on the V8 swap car he had. Could be a 2400 or 2600 motor. Currently not running and the projects far from being finished. THE CAR IS OBVIOUSLY A RESTORATION Project car. this makes it affordable project for just about any buyer checking it out right now :) How do you restore it ? Stock or restomod or maybe make it just a vintage road racing track car. Maybe clone it after a popular race car from the same era. All would look great and values, well hard to say, but either way, these cars values period are on the riSE and quickly being picked up by collectors all over the world. Seeing as this car has been sitting outside in the AZ weather day and nite, the cars interior has taken some beating. Most of the rust on the top panels are surface only too. Under the car is very solid too. The desert heat has been very kind to this 40 yr old rare European Ford. RR 1/4 got some rust in Front of the rear wheel and the spare tire well got the worst of it from the best we can tell. MORE INFO: DRIVETRAIN: under the bonnet looks to be a later model 2600 Ford V6 motor connected to a manual 4 spd. Sitting on top of the engine is what looks to be like a Weber carb. Several things missing from under the hood as you can see in the pics but alot of the major stuff is there too. Rearend looks to be stock and original, and the car still wearing its original style steel wheels. I wasnt too motivated on getting it running, because I know that some potential buyers out there are tempted to do another motor swap to a small block 5.0 or similar (and wouldnt that be NICE ) Most real buyers are just looking for rust free clean bodys, such as this car here. NO RUST AROUND the UPPER STRUT MOUNTS INTERIOR: check out the pics, but the interior really needs alot of work. But seems to be fairly complete still. It even comes with what looks to be a factory lower console as well, just loose in the car. Pretty much all the rubber seals are baked and dry rot, as is most of the plastic and vinyl too. We have lots of pics, so check them all out below. Front seats are no longer bolted in and in there loose. It will take alot of parts and $ to make it original, and if you go race car with it, then not as much of course. All the glass is good except the driver side door glass is MISSING. (not that hard to find either online.) EXTERIOR: the original color looks to have been a med blue metallic, after that maybe it went to tan, and then the current Green you see in the pics. All done back in the 80s before base coat / clear coat. I honestly dont see any sign of previous bodywork or damage, but by now of course its going to need some body work. But after being all under the car (see pics) the AZ climate has been nice to the stock sheetmetal. Bumpers in pretty good shape as well. SUSPENSION: the suspension is basically all original and stock the best I can tell and Im sure has some worn stuff there too, but dont see any areas of damage. Luckily pretty much all the stuff you need for these cars is available and their cost are more affordable too. Its an older non restored car, its going to need some stuff fixed and replaced here too once you get it road worthy . This car is Id guess to est be a 80% rust free Arizona car The worst place I found rust, was the spare tire well in the trunk and in front of the RR tire. Again, please check out all the pics below. The car does come with a small box of misc extra parts AND I have an extra 4 spd trans I can sell for cheap if you want a spare. Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scrol bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100+ large pics. Hope you like the detailed pics There you have it, probably The BEST represented FORDs on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Honestly, I think more sellers should post pics like we do but buyer beware if they dont. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. Or fly in and drive it home if you choose. Clean / Clear ARIZONA TITLE IN HAND I wont end the auction early !!
