Vehicle Detail
There is so much to write about this car I almost don't know where to start so I will start from the beginning. I bought this GTO brand new from the dealer with 63 miles back in Jan. 2007 . I for some reason caught what us car guys call the mod bug. So I went ahead and had a professional shop install a Procharger D1SC kit , Blower Cam , Kooks Headers , Spec Clutch , methanal , custom dyno tune. The car put down close to 590 at the rear wheels. However after a year or so driving as a everyday driver even that horsepower becomes sort of boring or just not fast enough. I was ready to upgrade the motor to forged internals and run a smaller pulley and get into some more boost but it would end up taking the build completely out of control. The end result was a stupid fast car but it took streetability to its limits. The speed shop was trying to talk me into a 427 war hawk block but after hearing about a lot of cylinder sleeves coming loose . I opted to stick with the reliable 402 stroker motor. The block is the only original part , crank is callie dragon slayer , oliver billet rods , another custom blower cam with custom grind, Heads are edelbrock castings that were sent out to west coast cylinder heads and were completely modified, edelbrock intake , upgraded throttle body. The engine was put together by a engine builder that use to work for Ligenfillter. Fuel system was obvisouly upgraded with bosch twin 044 pumps ,upgraded injectors and fuel lines etc. The car was converted to a cable drive throttle body and BIG STUFF 3 ECM was purchased to tune the car. After the engine build completely got out of control next was to upgrade Procharger unit. So I was talked into the bigger Procharger F1C unit with a custom intercooler and custom piping. Then the trans was brought into the mix , the 6speed T56 was sent out and got completely rebuilt and also received a hardened mainshaft and custom yoke. The clutch was upgraded again to a Spec Twin Disc. Then came the big question , hows the IRS going to put down the power on 8inch tires , simple answer was no chance in hell. So being already so deep into this build I decided to convert it to a solid rear axle and the speed shop contacted moser about building a custom solid rear axle for big power gtos. Moser sent out a mock up Moser M9 rear from a f-body with a torque arm suspension. This was converted to fit the GTO and moser refined it and built a custom jig off my car for other GTOs . The speed shop also did a mini tub and the car will tuck 345s no problem. The reared gear is a full spool , with a 3.73 gear ratio. The torque arm is tied into the frame connectors with a custom driveshaft and driveshaft safety loop. Rear coil over shocks are QA1 adjustable. Wilwood Rear Brakes, Front struts were upgraded to peddars 90/10 struts.A roll cage was added to the car and battery located to trunk. The ending result the car put down over 900rwhp on the mustang chassis dyno. This car is just insane. The suspension is perfect , car stays straight and is really stupid stupid fast. Now this build took about 2.5 years to complete and 65k with all the custom work and drama I was about burned out on the car when I got the car back. I took the car to a couple local car shows and destroyed a couple 500hp cars on the the highway leaving a couple shows. The car basically just sits and collects dust. I rather take a hit on the car then let it set and go to hell. The car is street legal but its really not street friendly with the noise the engine produces and most cops probably won't like it. That being said I recommend buying it more as a drag car or street race car, in other words its probably not something you wanna drive everyday. Now for the bad parts about the car. After the long drawn out build this speed shop shut its door and as luck would have it my car wasn't completely done. I don't believe the big stuff 3 is wired completely correctly. The gas gauge doesn't work and has a strange problem when you try to shut the car off , it doesn't want to shutdown. I also noticed last time I drove it air fuel ratio gauge was not reading anything. The car also runs to rich in my opinion and needs to be retuned. Im sure any speedshop familiar with the big stuff 3 and wiring can fix these issues no problem. A/C is all intact and just needs to be charged , ABS is disable, no backseat oand I believe the airbags are disable as well. There is something wrong with the passenger window it does work but seems like something is loose inside the door. Overall this car will be a steal for someone and there is almost power left in it. I believe if somebody would add bigger headers and a methanol kit and re tune the power would increase even more. Im sure Im forgetting a lot of stuff , but if you have any questions I will try to answer them. I feel like my reserve is a down to earth one, somebody is going to get a race car for far less then building one.
