1970 FJ40, solid but in need of some TLC. I rescued this cruiser from behind a barn with hopes of bringing her back to life. Well fast forward and kid #3 just landed, and my restoration of my 72 FJ40 is going at a snails pace so I'm passing this one along to someone looking for a cool project. She may not look fantastic but where it counts she is solid and has great potential. The older cruiser were made with better and thicker metal and for that reason the majority of the body panels and floors are in good shape. The drivers rocker has some rust through that will need to be addressed and based on my experience with these cars I would replace the hood and the drivers front fender. Both are fine if you are wanting a trail rig but if restoration or revitalization is your plan then replacement of these components would be the cost effective way to go rather than try to repair. The floorboards are surprisingly mostly intact! There will be a patch needed in between the seats and a couple other spots smaller spots, one in each foot well and a very small one on the rear floor. The tailgate skin needs to be repaired. But this cruiser is more solid than it isn't. Tires and wheels are great, I replaced those as the wagon wheels it came with were rusty and had rotten tires. These are still good, and road worthy. The motor is a small block chevy. It appears in good order. I've pulled the valve covers, removed the carb and the engine is very clean internally, with good looking oil and it freely turns and has audible compression when turned over. The motor was supposedly freshly rebuilt prior to parking (apparent front drum brake issue per the previous owner and I can confirm there are no brake shoes on the front axle), for what that is worth, in my opinion it seems healthy. I haven't started or attempted to start because it will need wiring and time hasn't allowed me to look further into that. Front seat is not original, back jump seats are. It comes with two Hard Tops and two upper hatches. Between the jump seats,two hatches and hard tops they are more valuable in parts than where I'm starting this auction. Also comes with original hard doors, they need some work, and need hinge pins. Glass is good throughout even on the two tops. Any questions feel free to ask.
