Vehicle Detail
Original stock Suburban. Unmolested or modified. This is a fresh canvas for all you car crafters out there. Or, it is a great start to a restoration of an original 1948 Suburban. Clamshell tailgate rear doors with a single tail light. No turn signals on this baby. I bought this as a father/son project almost 20 years ago. Unfortunately, my wife could not see her baby boy waiting for an old rattle trap to be built. So, she shoehorned him into a Pontiac Sunfire. YeeHaa!! What car!! He enlisted in the army a short time later and this project never got off the ground. So, this Suburban just sat for the last couple of decades in my barn. I had secured a 500ci Caddy engine and TH 400 trans as potential powertrain install. That is still available for those interested for an additional fee. I bought it from a friend who was still using it at the time to ferry his wind surfer to the local lake on the weekends. It ran OK when it was parked, but that was a long time ago. It will need the usual tune-up and mechanical going over if you want to drive it as is. Additional info and pictures may be available upon polite request. On Jan-16-15 at 17:34:46 PST, seller added the following information: I added a few more pictures so you can see it in all it's dusty glory. It is also listed locally, so it could disappear at any time. Good luck.On Jan-17-15 at 17:04:35 PST, seller added the following information: I went back and did a few more pictures. I found that the rubber floor pad on the driver's side is in pretty poor shape and there is some rust in that floor pan. A couple of penetrations through the floor pan on the driver's side. That is an easy fix, as there are many suppliers of metal patches and panels available for this very popular truck. Classic Parts USA, Bob's Chevy Trucks, Goodmark, EBay and numerous others have this replacement piece. Not that big of a deal, but I wanted to leave full disclosure of it's condition. The dash has all the original chrome trim, instrument panel, glove box door, and dash cover, including the optional chrome heater cover in good condition. The original rubber rear floor cover is worn and tired, but then so am I at about the same age. Several people have asked about ending the auction early to cut out the competition. I won't give anyone an unfair advantage over the 100 plus people watching and/or bidding now. If you want this to be yours without the chance of losing it to someone else, hit the Buy It Now Button.
