Vehicle Detail
57 Chevy two door post (sedan). I did a lot of work on it in 2005 & 06. I drive it occasionally but not often, I have too many toys, can only drive one at a time. Had it in a few car shows and cruise nights. I haven't done much with it the last couple years. Too many projects, not enough time. Have thought about selling a few times, but every time I get it out and clean it up, I change my mind. Get it before I change my mind again! Still needs finishing, but here's what we did and what's next. Body down to metal, removed old bondo, pulled, straightened and cleaned up body. Replaced rear quarters because someone cut the old ones to put wider tires on. Replaced some other body parts due to rust, door sill plates, tail piece under trunk. All chrome was either replaced with Danchuck parts or if it was still usable, it was buffed. Paint looks good but there are some issues. I have close ups of a few spots that need attention, there are a few more. A few bubbles, a scratch, just not perfect paint. Looks great at 10 feet! Interior metal, steering wheel and trim are painted the same color as exterior. Glass is good, no cracks. Front windshield is old, see photo of discoloring at bottom. Gas tank was removed, cleaned and sealed. Tires and Wheels are new. True Crager Mags, Mickey Thompson 70 Indy Profile tires with very few miles. 1957 Texas license plates are included. In Texas you can register these plates and use them if you register it as an antique. Interior was done by a local shop, they did a great job. Seats, door panels, headliner all in great shape. Carpet was new in 2006, nice Chevrolet floor mats front and rear. Trunk is lined in carpet. Door and trunk seals are new, window channels replaced in front, back are old but ok. Radio is from Vintage Auto Radio, AM / FM / Cassette, speakers in rear deck. Fuel gauge works, add on water temp and oil pressure gauges work. Speedometer does not. I have another complete dash gauge set (used) to install, it will go with the car. Any other spare parts I have will go with the car. Engine is 350. Transmission 700R4 automatic. Runs and drives good. Edlebrock Carb and Edlebrock Torker Manifold. Distributor is Mallory. Converted front brakes to Power Disc Brakes. Rear Air Shocks adjustable to 200 psi, this will raise and lower the car a couple inches. Lights, brake lights, turn signals, and interior light work. What's next? Next on my list would be rebuild the front end. I've been driving it like it is for 10 years, but the steering is loose. Drives straight, but feels loose. There is no ac or heat in the car. Heater and heat fan are disassembled, all parts go with the car. Windshield wipers do not work. I purchased an electric motor, but have not installed it. Again parts go with the car. This is a beautiful car, gets lots of attention and comments. I hate to let it go, but will feel better if someone gets it and finishes it. Thanks for looking! After pictures are current, it did look better in 2006, no paint flaws!
