Vehicle Detail

1974 VW Camper Pop Top Riviera Convesion Up for Auction: SUPER LOW FAIR RESERVE !!! AZ TITLE IS A BOX A TITLE showing the mileage to be an ORIGINAL just over 20k miles on the car. People always say the car that shows like this cant be original miles, but I say, YOU sit in the Az climate for 20+ yrs everyday and see how you look in 20 or so yrs. Its not been inside. Knowing the cars history, the Az title docs the mileage over the yrs as well, known as Box A (see pics below) This 1974 VW Bus is a low mileage barn find. Last tagged in 95 the last owner got it in a divorce settlement yrs ago, and didnt like driving it, so it sat in her carport since 95. From 75 to 95 it was just used for a few road trips from Az to Mexico or surrounding areas. A great candidate for a full restoration project vehicle... with a great starting point. Although this car has resided in Az most, if not all its life but it did aquire some rust in a few areas, nothing major. so it got what I would call a few small pockets of rust, but you will see by the 100+ pics below what we are talking about, the AZ climate has kept it all from getting worse. I still consider it a very low rust vehicle compared to most I keep seeing on ebay in the mid west or back east wet humid climates. The rubber is dry around all the gaskets and really most of the whole cars needs restoration, just depending on how far you want to go with it. We have yet to try to start the motor, we are in the process of cleaning out the fuel tank some, and making sure its ready to run. The motor spins over by hand and the vehicle ran fine when last driven, but Az sun and heat has been hard on the rubber, plastic and vinyl as you can maybe expect. Az also has been hard on the original white paint, in a few areas you can see bare metal with surface rust and I see spots of red which I believe is original primer. THIS is a very rare model bus and not many left in this survivor type condition and not rotted out from the bottom up. IF YOU NEED HELP SHIPPING BACK TO THE UK which alot of these are going lately, I can help get it to the docks in Tx or Ca for a good price if you need help there. DRIVETRAIN: working on getting it running this week, cant promise it will be ready to drive when the auction ends, but if you have a questions, during the auction, email me. If I get it running Ill add to my description before the auction ends. At the moment, the tires are good rollers and would be usable on a standard car with good tread left on them. Brakes feel good and the car stops fine, Ebrake also works too. The original motor is still outback, and still EFI. INTERIOR: mostly still all original interior with a few things changed I can see. Seems very complete too. You could drive it as is and restore it while you are using it too. Being a Camper Pop top you can unlatch the pop top and it pushes up like its suppose to. If the interior was really cleaned up, and mildly restored, it would be fine for a driver. The cool what I think are original curtains, are very dry rot. Havent really tested the sink, stove or fridge yet, but they should work as is but cant promise since I havent tested them out yet. Dash not to bad of shape and seats looks good, but they are dry and will need repairing. Keep in mind, the heat and dryness has taken its toll on some exposed areas of the van. Tables, storage spaces, rear fold down seats, all still there. Overall the interior does need a good cleaning and could use some restoration front to back if you are making a show car. Some people love it just the way it looks.... and smells :) EXTERIOR: Original color was white, and I believe you are looking at original paint. When you pop the top up, the paint under the top area thats been covered, is in really nice shape. The dr lower rocker area has a few spots showing some rust, and the body has a few other areas that will need repair for a full resto. But check out all the pics below and youll see how clean the body really is, and how clean it is under the Van on the floors from the outside. Sure its dirty and still some spider webs under there, but its a very solid van underneath. Only dent Ive seen, up front between the headlights. Easy enough place to fix too luckily. SUSPENSION: FRONT disc brakes are nice, but rest of the suspension does look original and with 20k aprox on the whole bus, it may not need as much work as you think, but some of the rubber bushings may be dryrot . but again this stuff is easy and cheaper to fix these days compared to fixing rusted out bodies for days.. Should come apart fairly easy too. Please check out our Feedback, its there for a reason and to help the buyer make an educated decision on who they trust to buy from long distance.. Also our pics are probably more detailed then anyone one else selling a Vw on ebay. We go all over and under the vehicle, and even take off wheels to get the best pics. Its a shame everyone doesnt market their vehicles as detailed as we do. Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. There you have it, probably The BEST represented Type 2s on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . YES , this Van does have some areas or pockets of rust that will need to be fixed for a proper restoration, but the body etc is still in way better condition then most VWs vans this old. ARIZONA has been very nice to this vehicle like most of the cars we sell online. Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you know exactly what you have in the end. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehicles youll never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !! Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. Doing restoration on this type of project is less labor intensive which means overall cost is less too ! With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. ARIZONA TITLE IN HAND ready to go CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. Can help with shipping outside the USA too if you need help. At this point, the car will ship as an INOP, but I can get it from Tucson the docks in LA for about $500 with no problem, fast too. This car, you can see clearly what to expect with no surprises and our Feedback speaks for itself ! EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !! Car will obviously ship as an INOP. IF you need a shipping quote, just email us with your city/state and Ill find out our best quote for you !! No problem helping it to the docks if you are shipping overseas . If you have to wait for the title to ship your car, it still needs to be paid for and shipped from our holding lot as mentioned in the ad. When we get the title for it, we will fedex it to you. If there is a winner, please email me when the auction ends and say Hi and we can take it from there. Bank Wires need to be prompt if you are out of the country because they always seem to take longer then expected. I bank with B of A which makes things easy for many out of state for payment. direct deposit or Cashier checks If you wire the funds we must add a $50 fee that our bank charges us. must clear before car can move. Its a sign of the times, sorry. IF RESERVES NOT MET, email us anyway maybe we can work out a deal after it ends. NO PAYPAL for $500 deposit only - rest direct bank deposit or wire Must be paid within 5 days of auction
