Vehicle Detail

I bought this site unseen last December from an insurance auto auction, from the photos I could see it had sideswiped something on the drivers side. So I figured it was running when it wrecked so I took a chance on it. Vehicle has a clear title. I got it home just fine, beat the dent out of the drivers door and put it to work. This van has had most of the common Sprinter issues removed, it will not pass an emissions test so keep your state laws in mind if bidding. DPF has been gutted, EGR is Blocked. I had the ECU retuned to delete emissions crap and stay out of limp mode. Upon driving it a couple weeks I soon realized this van uses a LOT of oil. I replaced some turbo seals, air-oil separator and oil cooler and seals. When replacing the oil cooler seals I discovered the swirl valve arms were trash. Instead of spending $1300 on intakes I simply removed the swirl valves. Now I've never driven a perfect functioning 3.0 Sprinter and I'm sure if my van and a perfect one were placed side by side and driven one after the other, mine will probably have notably less performance. I also added new air filter, oil pan heat pad for cold mornings, new glow plugs and glow plug module. The good: This van drives wonderfully straight and smooth, great brakes, starts right up, very reliable. It has given me 11 months and 20,000 miles of trouble free driving. I made three 2400 mile road trips this summer with no issues. I put new tires on it they are at least 50%, time to rotate them. I added a trailer hitch for towing my 16' aluminum fishing boat. The trailer you pull needs LED lights or it will mess up the vans' turn signals. The bad: Never did find the oil consumption problem. It's either the piston rings or turbo, I'm guessing. Either way I figured I was done putting money into the van and I was too busy to worry about it, my business grew by leaps and bounds this year. I get 21 MPG all the time and I average 100 miles per quart of oil. The faster you drive the more oil she consumes. On my road trips I took a 5 gallon bucket and a 2 gallon jug (for pouring) and they would be empty before I got home. The smoke isn't very noticeable in daytime but at night the cars' headlights behind you illuminate a light cloud of smoke following you. I think its embarrassing and a bad image for my business and this van has paid for itself many times this year so I got a new van. I do not even care how much this van sells for, I'm probably just going to buy some new guns for myself with whatever it brings. All in all I think someone will be pleased with this van especially for the cheap price they will get it for. You get a full tank of diesel and 5 gallons of oil to get you home with your purchase. I would be comfortable driving this thing home anywhere. You can put this van to work and be making $$ out of it before Xmas! Pre bidding inspections are welcome. Happy bidding
