Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1935 Studebaker Dictator 1A sedan. It shows 65,000 miles, which appears accurate. It is complete and runs, and is being offered with NO RESERVE! Exterior: The car has some minor trauma on the passenger side fenders and running board (see pictures). Paint is overall in fair to good condition, but there are areas of paint crazing, thinning, and some surface rust. The roof insert is intact, but showing some age cracks. Running boards are in fair to good condition but do show wear. Brightwork is in decent shape, but flaws are visible on most die cast pieces. The grille is cracked at the top center and is wired in place. The fog lights, which are not hooked up, are in excellent shape. Tires show little wear, but age is unknown. Wheels appear to wear original pin striping. Hubcaps are by and large straight, but chrome is dull. Windshield glass is delaminating. Weatherstrips are very deteriorated. Interior: The interior is in very good condition given its age. Seats show some minor tears and holes, but are otherwise very solid. Headliner is in excellent shape. Instrument panel glass is cracked, but a new glass in in the trunk. Interior hardware (window cranks, etc...) are also in good shape. Steering wheel has some minor cracks, but is very solid. Floor coverings are deteriorated. Car is equipped with a Studebaker heater. Mechanical: Engine is the original Studebaker Rockne/Dictator/Commander inline six. Car did not run for at least 15 years, but does run now. Has a stuck valve and needs manifold gaskets at the very least. Smokes some and is clattery (possibly due to stuck valve) but carries good oil pressure (see picture). Car drives and transmission and clutch operate. Brakes do not function. Electrical accessories were not tested. Structural: Frame and body appear solid, but there is some surface rust throughout (see pictures). Other: Vehicle is titled by its engine number. Clear title is in hand. Sale includes spare parts pictured in trunk. Car may be viewed in person by calling Andy (574) 532-8352 or Drew (574) 339-2766, or please email with questions or for additional pictures. Car is being offered with NO RESERVE. Sale proceeds benefit the Studebaker National Museum. Car is sold As Is, Where Is, with no warranty of any kind. U.S. buyers only! Full amount due within 72 hours of close of auction. Car must be picked up within ten days of close of auction. Shipping arrangements are the buyer's responsibility. Title will be released when car is picked up. Bill of sale will accompany title.
