Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1955 Studebaker Commander Starliner hardtop. It was restored by the previous owner, at which time it was fitted with a 1973 Chevrolet 350 V8 with a Turbo 350 transmission. Mileage shown is 139, actual mileage is unknown. The interior was redone to mimic the 1955 Speedster pattern. Exterior: The paint is in overall excellent shape, with a few imperfections/chips around body openings. The driver's door has some fit issues (see pictures) as do some pieces of trim. Brightwork is in very good shape. Nearly all chrome was rechromed during restoration, however the trim under windshield shows imperfections. All stainless trim is in excellent shape, but the rear fender caps have some imperfections Rear wheelcovers were in the trunk at the time of photography. Interior: The interior has been redone in a Speedster-like pattern. Seats are in excellent condition, as is the instrument panel and carpeting. The entire interior shows little if any signs of wear. Mechanical: Drivetrain was converted to a 1973 Chevrolet 350 V8 with a two-barrel carburetor and a HEI ignition, and car has been converted to 12-volt electrics. Transmission is a Turbo 350 with a floor shift. Rear axle and brakes appear to be stock 1955 Studebaker. Car runs, transmission operates, but brakes may need attention. Brake fluid reservoir was empty when car was received, and the right-rear brake is grabbing. Studs on right rear hub need replacing - two are stripped, they appear to have been cross threaded at some point. Structural: Car was sourced from Nevada prior to its restoration. Hog troughs, frame, trunk and floors are solid and rust free (see pictures). Other: Car may be viewed in person by calling Andy (574) 532-8352 or Drew (574) 339-2766, or please email with questions or for additional pictures. Car is being offered with NO RESERVE. Sale proceeds benefit the Studebaker National Museum. Car is sold As Is, Where Is, with no warranty of any kind. U.S. buyers only! Full amount due within 72 hours of close of auction. Car must be picked up within ten days of close of auction. Shipping arrangements are the buyer's responsibility. Title will be released when car is picked up. Bill of sale will accompany title. We do not use PayPal. Seller will process payment: Cash, Certified Funds, Visa/MC/Amex/DV accepted. On Dec-12-14 at 06:52:58 PST, seller added the following information: Brake fluid was added to empty reservoir when car was taken in. Had some pedal, but RR brake grabbed. Removed wheel, which is when the bad studs were discovered. Brake linings appeared new-ish and there were no visible leaks. As always, please call or email with additional questions or for pictures. Also, in dash fuel gauge does not work, there is an auxiliary gauge installed. Car has electric fuel pump.
