Vehicle Detail
1962 P1800 built by Jensen. Very early production car with chassis #302. Purchased from couple who had dry stored the car for many years but never restored it. Pictures indicate front end damage which probably took the car out of service many years ago. The front bumper, grille and surround are missing. Previous body work to rear panel, 1/8" skim of filler which is now coming off, easy to metal finish and save this panel.Typical lower panel bubbles, (see photos). Floors and trunk appear very solid, haven't scraped sound deadening off floors but from under car inspection the floors and cross members appear very solid (see photos). Someone added hood pins, easy fix. As usual the battery box needs repair. The left front fender trim and the left upper door trim at the vent window show damage, all other window, wind wing, door swoops, rt. fender spear, front/rear windshield trim, head light bezels, and quarter panel top trim appear in very nice condition. The license plate light assy. and tail light chrome shows typical pitting. Rear bumper fairly straight but needs restoration. Trunk lock and keys ok but doors will need keying. Repainted factory red in the past, fair job, needs stripped and redone.Engine not free, filled cylinders with oil but have not tried to turn it over. Engine appears to be of 1967 vintage as it has a cast iron intake and a pcv system. 4 speed transmission with a factory overdrive. All brake systems will need restoration/repair.The interior is complete with the exception of the factory clock, (removed for aftermarket gauge). Has a factory radio, all factory gauges (except clock) appear to be in good condition visually, but operating condition unknown. Has had common fix for bad coil (after market ign. switch and Bosch coil). Steering wheel has one 1/8" wide crack at one o'clock. Seats appear to have been recovered, all other panels, headliner, rear seat, and sun visors appear original, rear package tray card board poor. Both door top pads are poor but I am including two very nice pads with this auction. Dash pads are brittle and have cracks. Original seat belts are intact. Carpets, with the exception of the trans tunnel have been removed.I believe this is a significant piece of Volvo P1800 history, particularly because of its low commission number, being only the 302nd P1800 ever produced. Please study the photos closely and ask any questions BEFORE bidding. Car has a clear signed off Washington State title (not in my name). $500 deposit required within 48 hours of auction close, total payment required within 7 days of auction close. Vehicle will need to be trailered or transported, vehicle DOES NOT RUN, transport company will need to be able to load a non running vehicle. Vehicle to be picked up within 30 (thirty) days of auction close, no storage.
