I bought this Imperial in 2004 with the intention to get it roadworthy and maybe restore it. I've gotten the mechanical parts done, but have decided to down size my collection and am selling the car. The car originally came from South Dakota and is very solid for a 59. I'm a professional mechanic and I have rebuilt the engine and transmission. It runs nice and smooth. The brakes are all new, and it stops straight and smooth. All 4 tires are new. The exhaust is new from the manifolds to tail pipes. The drive shaft has been rebuilt with new universals and center bearing. The upper control arm bushings, and strut rod bushings are new. The steering box has been re-sealed, and the front wheel bearings have been replaced. The car has only been on the road a couple of years, so everything done is still pretty new. Standard equipment on the Imperial Crown includes power windows, brakes, steering, windows, 6 way power seat, dual exhaust, clock, and windshield washer. Options include Dual A/C, search tune radio, tinted glass, flitesweep deck lid, swivel seats, and heavy duty 40 amp generator. The interior and exterior chrome is mostly in nice shape, and would not need to be re-done for a nice driver. The windshield will need replacement. The floors are mostly solid except for the right rear of the trunk floor, and the lower right fender. I have a replacement lower panel for it. The grille is cracked and the hood has a slight buckle in it. A good body shop should be able to easily repair it. I have an extra set of side glass and door panels from a 58 that go with the car, along with some other small parts. All lights and equipment work with the exception of the clock, and radio. The windows all work, but some are slower than others. The clock reset and trip reset cables are both bad and not installed. The gas gage works when it feels like it. I drove the car to Carlisle last July and it drove great and got 15 mpg on the 850 mile round trip. The A/C was working on the way down, but a hose failed on the way back, so that would have to be repaired to have A/C again. You can drive this car home. Rhode Island does not issue titles for vehicles over ten years old. The car is currently registered and insured. A copy of the registration and a bill of sale will be provided to the winning bidder. A $500.00 pay pal deposit will be required upon auction completion. Vehicle must be picked up within 2 weeks unless other arrangements are made in advance. Vehicle is sold as is, as seen.
