1976 Mercury

Up for auction is a 1976 Mercury Sno Twister 340 Liquid Cooled Snowmobile. I purchased this sled about five years ago. It has been entered in many local shows and always draws a lot of attention. A general comment I hear often is "When those liquid Mercs showed up, nothing could touch them". I can't vouch for that, but from my experience this sled is quick! The 340's seem to be tougher to find than the 440's. 550 total production for the 340 Liquids. CONDITION: I purchased this sled in un restored condition and does have a few bumps and bruises, but very few. I am selling this sled just the way I bought it (five years ago) with the exception of a new snow flap and rear grab handle from Image Enterprises. The hood has a few custom decals and shows/shines well. Original cleated track (looks good) w/steel picks. Skis are nice (original w/aggressive carbides), seat is nice, correct 12 Thousand RPM Tach (hard to find), original Arctic Hex Primary Clutch (engages aprox 5500 RPM's), original secondary clutch and nice oval bars. The tunnel, belly pan and suspension look good. Vin numbers were verified on the tunnel and the motor as 340. No stud damage. I do have a "new" one piece bellypan from Image available (extra). The motor mount plate has been repaired (welded), top expansion chamber has a dent (easy fix), no air box (running velocity stacks) and the hood is "lift off" and will need a hood hinge (if so desired). The carburetors have been jetted for summer use (by the previous owner) and takes time to warm up. Runs excellent once engine has warmed. I took this sled on a 10 mile "trail ride" (scary fast) last winter and many "loops" around our four acre field with no issues.
