Vehicle Detail
You are viewing my 1981 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler. The jeep has 20k original miles, was parked in 1985 when owner passed away and family stored it inside until late 2013. The orginal owner was a contract painter based out of Michigan that used the jeep as a work vehicle. You can see the evidence of latex paint on areas in bed. Was told the jeep was special ordered with the black top, ordered with no fender flares, and without a dash pad. It was outfited with the chrome rear bumper with original end caps. Jeep has the original copper brown metallic paint with original scrambler hood decal. All orginal interior with nutmeg high back seats in great shape! The original AM radio works perfectly. The jeep is not perfect on the exterior but is very nice. The jeep has no rot, but has surface rust that can be sanded off if you wish. I prefered to leave it all alone. The paint has bubbled off the edges of the overlapped portion of the fender, it would be an easy fix to paint it but I wanted to keep all the factory paint, did not want to take away from the survivor aspect of the jeep. The floorpans are solid but the paint has bubbled off of drivers pan. The jeep original had 15x5.5 wheels on it, which will go with the jeep. The previous owner installed the current wheels and tires which are an original set of 15x7 cj wagon wheels with five brand new bridgeston 31x10.5x15 tires. Since being taken out of storage, the jeep has had a new fuel tank installed, new lines, and carburetor has been rebuilt. Since pictures were taken I have had a new exhaust system installed due to an exhaust leak. The jeep runs and drives great! Its amazing seeing one with such low miles, the steering wheel still has all the texture on it!!! If you are in the market for a clean all original low mile scrambler this one is a good candidate. It has not been off roaded or had hard miles put on it. Its a very good example of an all original unmolested scrambler. I did my best to do this jeep justice but I am sure I missed something, so if there are any questions you may have please contact me and I will do my best to answer. Thank you for your time!
